I am interested in learning more about the Brunel family. My mother, Sabina Brunel Preciado, now deceased, was born in Yrapuato, Gto, in 1915. She was daughter to Ernest Brunel, the son of Ernest Brunel de coqueman. My mother was never recognized as a Brunel as it was kept a "secret" from her as a child. She learned of her father in later years. I cannot tell you when this information was revealed to her, nor at what age. I would love to make contact with you and learn more about the Brunel family. I was reluctant to send message in fear that you would think it untrue.

Louis Brunelle parents cited in the marriage record are Jean Baptiste and Marguerite Bourg, but it was a mistake because he was born in La Presentation 28 Dec 1821, the son of Jean Baptiste Brunel and Angelique Loranger, married in Saint Hyacinthe on 18 Sept 1815 (Marguerite Bourg was married to Augustin Brunelle, Louis' elder half brother). Louis died in St. Valerien 15 Jan 1902. He married first in Saint Damase 07 May 1850 Zoe Depeau (Joseph y Angelique Lucier), second in St. Cecile Milton 23 Aug 1869 Vitaline Fausse (Andre y Louise Dupont) and third in St. Valerien 10 Jan 1887 Zoe Girard (Amable y Josephe Donais v. Michel Trudeau)
Louis' grand parents were Jacques Brunel and Elisabeth Jodoin (married in Varennes 12 Jan 1761), Joseph Loranger and Ursulle Charron.

Hi,

I have the in Varennes 06 Feb 1809 the marriage of Pierre Provost (Joseph and M. Anne Lacoste dit Languedoc) and Angelique Brunel (Jean Pierre and Marguerite Bousquet). My guess is that Angelique was also called Julie because I found a baptisme of a Pierre born in Varennes 1813 and his parents Pierre Provost and Julie Brunel but there is no marriage of this couple.
Do you have any info on Louis Provost (marriage etc.)?
Luis

On 16 november, in the Wallonian church in Leeuwarden, was baptised Marguerite, daughter of François BRUNEL and Margerite FRANOTTE. Even though there are more BRUNEL in Leeuwarden during the early 18th century, they left no earlier record.

Anyone who knows where this couple could have come from?
Leandre Brunel-son of Joseph

My gggrandfather is Leandre (Leon) Brunell (I am not positive about the spelling of the last name--so I'm posting this on all 3 boards!). He was born about 1847 in Lyon Mountain, Clinton Co., NY. He married Emmeline D'Aoust on 14 Nov 1870 in Redford. Clinton Co., NY. My great grandmother is their daughter Josephine, who was born in Lyon Mountain about 1879.

I believe Leandre's father is Joseph Brunell and that he was married to Josette Oligny. They were from Canada. Is there anyone who has the family in their line and can give me some information about where in Canada this family came from? Thank you so much for any help.

Jolynn Noel Winland
littleangeljw@yahoo.com

In looking in my files here is what I have: Josephte Courchesne, d/o of Louis and Marie-Anne Chèvrefils married Paul Brunel 24 mai 1803 in l`Acadie, St-Jean County, QC The ancestors of Louis were Pierre Foucault (Courchesne) and Péronne Borde from Dordogne, France. Their son Jean-François Foucault married Elisabeth LeProvost and that`s with their children that Courchesne became known. Why? I would love to know the answer.
Today I discovered my great, great grandmother's name was Clydia Brunell. She married Thomas Pippen. I'm not sure if she was born in NY or French Canada. I know this line is French Canadian. I estimate her to be born between 1845-1860. She may have come to NY around 1880. Her daughters are Mary born in Fr. Can. in 1878 and Winefred born in NY in 1886. Clydia remarried a man name John Sitser and went back to Canada after his death. I get the feeling she might be connected to the Brunell's you are researching. Do you have any idea if she could be from this line. One record had her born in NYS with her parents born in Vermont. I'm not sure how accurate this is.
Would love to hear from you, Denise

Her name appears on one record, the baptism of her oldest son. The only truly ledgable part is Marie Barbe. The last name is debatable. Some see Brunel, others Counal, I think it is Arnal. Marie Barbe Arnal???? It is only by this record that we know that she married Christian Ladner. A much later court testamony states that she was German, but does not give her name.
