Hi, my name is Bill Biel. I'm from Pittsburgh, Pa. Gy Great Grandfather, Josef Biel, came to America on this date...March 18, 1890, exactly 120 years ago today. Josef was born in 1865. His son, Franz (Frank) my grandfather, was born in 1888. Both were born in Germany (Prussia).
I am in posession of a carpenter's tool that belonged to one of them. The tool is stamped multiple times with the name F. Brunko. I'm wondering if you have any information on an F. Brunko that may have been a tool maker?

My name is Linda McGinnis and Anna Ladner was my grandmother's sister. She married Herman Brunkow on May 3, 1885. She had a daughter from a previous marriage (would that be Clara Wooten?) I have a picture of Anna and daughter and Herman Brunkow. Anna died young and I was told she died in Enid, Oklahoma. Anna had 12 brothers and sisters and her parents came to the US from Switzerland. I have more information. I do not belong to Ancestry, am using a guest pass to answer you.

My paternal g grandmother was Louise BRUNKOW (1843 - 1921)
She married Ernst MÜLLER, mid 1800's, in Germany.
They - with several children - emigrated to NYC, embarking 3 DEC 1888. By 1889, the family had settled in Chicago when my grandfather, Waldemar (Walter) was born 4 July 1889.
I haven't yet found any other information on her, nor have I been able to document any of her siblings. I would like to correspond with anyone researching the BRUNKOW surname.

I'm looking for Charles Frederick Brunko(w) who was born Nov. 11, 1842 Prussia and died 30 Oct. 1896 Brandon, Buchanan Co., IA. He married March 4, 1878 Buchanan Co., IA to Augusta Ernestine Luloff. She was born 15 Oct. 1858 WI and died 31 May 1931 Brandon, Buchanan Co., IA. They had the following children: Franz (Frankie), Mary, Bertha, Herman, and George. I'm looking for any info on Charles siblings and parents and any further info on his ancestors. He had come to AMerica as a stowaway sometime before 1878. He had fled Prussia to avoid the Prussian War Draft. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance for any help. I'm willing to share info.

I am looking for the Brunko(w) family that lived in IA and WI. The earliest one is Charles Fredrick August Brunko(w) who was born 1842 in Prussia and died 1896 in Buchanan Co., IA. Had a brother named Wilhelm and he came to America after Charles. Also Charles married Augusta Luloff and they had the following children: Franz (Frankie), Mary, Bertha, Herman and George. Are you still seeking info on Emil Brunkow? It is possible that he is the brother of my husband's grandmother. Her name was Clara Brunkow, her parents were Herman Brunkow and Anna Ladner Wooten. She was born in San Antonio TX and had two brothers George and Emil and a sister Adela. All were born in San Antonio TX. Their mother died in child birth about 1893 or 1894. Herman was married 3 times as far as I know. Anna was his second wife.

"Idaho Statesman" newspaper, 8 May 1961, pg 12: Frank Brankow, 75, 104 South Eleventh Street, died at a local hospital Sunday after a long illness.
He was born at Klarno, Wis., Nov. 21, 1885. He came to Boise 18 years ago from Toppenish, Wash. During World War II he was employed as a munititions worker at the arsenal at Ogden, Utah.
Mr. Brankow was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lylas Walsh of Boise, and Mrs. Ruth Craig of Prineville, Oreg.; one son, Roland of Denver; one brother Henry Brankow of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sisters, Edith Brankow and Anna Smith, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; 11 grandchidren and 28 great grandchidren.

"Idaho Statesman," newspaper, 3 November 1992, page 2C: Lylas S. Walsh, 78, of Boise........ Lylas was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, a sister, and a brother, Roland Brunkow.

Frank Albert Brunkow is buried in the Morris Hill Cemetery, Boise, Ada County, Idaho.

Roland Brunkow, age 11, "no info" for birth place, or birth places for father & mother; was listed as a boarder in the household of Leander B. Stanfield on the 1920 Idaho Census, Ada County, Boise.

Raymond K. Brunkow is listed in the 1948 Boise & Ada County Directory, as a bus boy for the Hotel Owyhee, resided at 620-1/2 S. 14th St., Boise.
* 620-1/2 was owned by Vernon E. Tiger, and the street cross directory notes that "river between 535 and 610."

Re Roland - given a birth year of 1909 (1920-11) makes him a contemporary of my Lylas Lily (Brunkow) [Reynolds] Walsh, and her two possible sisters: Nina J. (md 1921, Bert Hutchings) and Ruth Mae (md Ben Craig)

Of an age to be their father: Frank A. Brunkow, born 21 Nov 1885, died 7 May 1961, and buried in the Morris Hill Cemetery, Boise, Idaho, as is Lylas.

Brunkow who lived in Saginaw Michigan He passed around 1970s maybe, He was into real estate.I grew up on Brunkow ct. he lives there to he built the subdavision starting in the 1930 threw the 1940s he had a wife her madin was Kolhegan, they was a School accros from us it was Names Charles F. Yes I would be very interested in knowing if you might have information on Wilhelmine Marten, she married Emil (middle name ?) Brunkow. They were married for a very short time and had a son Brunkow and I believe my understanding is she must had died in given child birth. My Grandfather name is Emil Herman Brunkow. I am wondering if my Grandfather might be the one who married her. I have been studing Brunkow families in where my Brunkow family might fit in on one of these broken gaps of the family tree. My mother's maiden name is Wege.There are many Brunkows in our family tree. I would be glad to share what information I have. You may already have all the information I have,but we can compare notes. My GrGrandfather was August Wege son of Wilhelm(William) and Louisa Kufhal Wege. He had twin sisters who were married to Brunkows-Emillee and Louisa. If interested let me know.

Wilhelmine Marten married Emil Brunkow. What is his middle name? There are only three Emil Brunkows listed in any of the ancestry board. 1.) Emil Herman Brunkow born in Texas. 2.) Emil Frank Brunkow born in Kansas. 3.) Emil Herbert Brunkow born in Nebraska, so which one did she married? I found this information on family tree maker genealogy site. Thank you for answering my old message I posted years back. I would be interested to know what you have on your family tree. My Great Grandfather Herman Brunkow had been married more than once. On my Grandfather's SS application I found out his mothers name was Anna Ladner. Then I found out Herman Brunkow had a second wife name Theresa Heimerl. I have all the information on the second wife but nothing on the first wife and this is the information I am missing is Anna Ladner. I learned that their isn't anymore relativies left living to find out anything but I do have the faith to believe that maybe someone might have something on this part of the family tree. I am from Kansas and Have hundreds of Brunkow families in my tree. Part of this large family lived in Wisconsin. I do not have an Emil Herman, however, some of the family names associated with the Brunkow name here and in Wisconsin was Tessendorf, Kolterman, Tunison and others. If any of this sounds right, I would be willing to share. I just put the family into a family tree report and there was 147 pages, including obits, weddings, etc. Keep searching

I am sorry about not getting in touch with you sooner. At the time I made my message I was just learning how to use the computer and now I am very successfull at. My Grandmother's name was Myrtle Dutcher and married Emil Herman Brunkow. Her mother's name was Louise Dutcher. I have alot of missing information on this part of the family because My GreatGrandfather Herman Brunkow had been married more than once and I only have just the second marriage information. Thank you for answering my message. I don't know but very little about my Grandmother's Dutcher side. But if you know anything I hope to hear from you soon.

Researching my grandfather's line: his name was Gustave A. Brunkow.....his father was Frederick and it is believed his mother was a Nightengale. Born in Frienwal (Pamin) Germany 2-24-1875. Arrived in Baltimore in 1893 and is believed to have lived with some relatives in Bancroft, NE.
Migrated to Oklahoma where he married MaryAnn (Mollie) Jones.
Any help on his ancestors would be appreciated.

My g-g-f was born in Marienfliess Pommen (Pomerania) which is now known as Marianowo in Poland. He came to the US and settled in Iowa.

Can anyone give me information about how the name came to be? Any family stories? One observation: it appears that there is a village/town in Pommerania named "Brunk." Or is the name perhaps a derivation of some old German word?

She married a Gottfried Sommerkorn b: February 4, 1733 at Pumptow, Fuerstensee (F"urstensee), Pyritz, Pommern, Prussia on November1, 1772 at Pumptow. He died November 2 1775 at Pumptow. Any info on her would be appreciated greatly.

I have a Anna Sophia Brunkow born about 1750 in Dolitz, Pyritz, Pommern, Prussia. I don't have much info on her other than that. She married Gottfried Sommerkorn on November 1, 1772 at Pumptow, Fuerstensee (F"urstensee), Pommern Prussia. He died November 2, 1775 at Pumptow. There could be a connection.

Hello Mike, it's been awhile but I think I can help you with Henry Brunko. The last time I talked to you we didn't have a connection with our two Brunko families but I feel strongly that we do now. I have come up with a William (Wilhelm) Brunko that is a brother of Charles Brunko. Wilhelm (William) had married a Mary Huebner and had several children. The Brunkows are part of my family tree. I do have an August Ferdinand Brunkow b. 8/30/1857, but I have nothing other than his parents who were Wilhelm Frederick Brunkow and Johanna Kaorlina Zabel. Most of our Brunkows lived in and around a town named Duluth, KS. This town was named after Doeltz, Germany, by the many Germans who migrated here and wanted their town to resemble the place from which they came. august and amelia brunkow were my great-
grandparents. they had several children,
the youngest, "william" was my grandfather
and namesake.

i have some information about them scattered
in some old family records i'd be willing to
share via email w/ you.

one interesting note: five years ago i lived in
oldenburg germany and did a bit of investigation
on august and amelia. i found out the name of
town where august was born is "drewitz" not
"dwelitz" as reported in some records. it's
a town outside of berlin, near potsdam.
the next logical move if one wanted to work
backwards is to contact the lutheren church in
that town.

i did find the passenger record for the boat
that brought august (and i believe) amelia
over to the u.s. interestingly they arrived
not at ellis island, but baltimore where i've
been living for a while.

i've always been interested in the story, about
august and amelia, why the same last name? were
they related in some way?
