hi. i'm not sure if you are still looking for information about your great uncle, but i can tell you that my dad, Nick Bruno, is always being mistaken for a relative of a Nicolo Bruno in Monroe, LA. We lived there for three years and often heard about this shoe shop. We live in Hammond, LA now and in fact, dad had been asked about his kin to this man just the other day. We supposedly aren't related to this man, but my great- grandfather was Nicola Bruno who came over in the early 1900s directly from Palermo and stayed in New Orleans until he married his wife, who was also a Bruno, but a different family. I will be going on a school trip this june to italy and i would love to know if i still have family in that part of the world. My grand-father, Steve, son of Nicola, sent over his wife, Annie's, wedding dress to one of their cousins after they were married, but never got it back. if that rings a bell with anyone, please let me know.
