Hello everyone, I found an old letter in my grandmother's house. It was already roughly translated and I thought I would post it on here to hopefully make a connection. It's very interesting. It is not specific, but It was writing to my Bubolz ancestors living in Rockland, WI at the time. If anyone has any details or information on a B. Bubolz or a Carl Bubolz from MN, please contact me. Carl would have died before 1873. Thanks, enjoy.

Dear Friend,
I’m just in the mood of writing a letter. I’ve been in America since 1868. I have been trying to contact you thru a paper that I found your name in. I’m hoping it is you. In the paper I see your mother and father died.
In Germany I didn’t like it anymore. I was 3 1/2 years a soldier in the army and then made a voyage to America landing in New York. Broke! No Money!
After earning a little money in New York I left for Milwaukee. I spent one year in Milwaukee looking for something to do. Here I heard in Minnesota that there was good land and no woods.
Traveling here was expensive. I acquired 80 acres of land here. The open are ailing here from the cold weather. My dear brother and I really don’t like it here. Last winter my neighbor and her two sons froze to death. This winter we might have more because it’s so very cold here. My neighbor had 8 head of cattle froze in the barn.
I’d like to sell here, take what I can get and go back to Wisconsin as a worker. Here in Minnesota winter and snow comes too fast, and sometimes can’t get to the barn for 2 or 3 days.
I would like to sell here and buy a couple of acres. Is there some still available there.
Dear brother write me if I can come from Milwaukee to Manitowoc and then to Reedsville.
Our brother Carl Bubolz is dead too, but we all must go that way. Believe in the Lord Jesus and God’s throne and I greet you in the Lord.
B. Bubolz
