Bubolz - Wendland Cambria

Looking for anyone who has ties back to Cambria, Columbia Co., Wisconsin with the name Bubolz. My great great grandfather was Emil Wolf Bubolz, born 1870 in Carolinenhof, Posen, Germany and was the son of Wilhelm Bubolz aand Wilhemine Wendland. According to census, he immigrated in 1896. Brothers were Adolph G., born 1872 and Albert Gottfried, born 1880 in Wisconsin. Emil was married in 1900 to Emilie Augusta Graff but was widowed in 1908 and remarred a Katherine Peters Senneke. (On the marriage cert that I just received for Emil and Emilie, the witnesses were Wolf Bubolz and Marie Wendland).Emil and Katherine lived in Cambria and then later moved to Aurora, Illinois where Emil passed in 1940.Still have to look up Wilhlem and Wilhemina on census, but would adore hearing from anyone who thinks these names may ring a bell.
Thanks, Dawn Lyons Schneider

Hi Amy,
Wow, it's good to hear from you.I had almost forgotten about my post! And as a matter of fact, I was just researching this line just now.
Does the name Senneke tie in at all? Emil b. 1870 in Prussia(Germany) was my great grandpa. His daughter by Emilie Graf (Alma Emilie Bubolz) was my grandma. He died in 1940 in Aurora and his wife Katherine , nee Peters, first married name Senneke, died in1947. Can you email me at muskie@mtaonline.net? Much too complicated for this forum and I can send you a file with my findings as far as census goes. I am sure these families are connected and I think we can beat this together!
Regards,
Dawn

Hi Dawn, bear with me, I am new at this stuff. The names you have posted are familiar to me, but the ages would not be right....but I figure that it is a possibility of names being passed down perhaps.

My biological fathers name is Emil Bubolz. His father name is Emil Bubolz, who had a brother named Alfred.

I do not know much of the family as my real father and mother divorced when I was 3 years of age. I can most certainly get more info out of my mother though.
I can tell you that My grandfather Emil married a woman named Nola. They divorced and then married a woman named Janice. He passed on in July 2000. This line of Bubolz reside in Illinois.

If you think anything I can offer would help you, I can get my mom to tell me more. I'm kind of interested in learning about that side of my family even though they are not in my life any longer.

My great great Grandfather was Carl Heinrich Bubolz (born 1854 in Pommern, died 1928 in MN) and lived in and near Winthrop, Sibley Cnty, MN. His father was Heinrich Bubolz, 1828-1902. Could there be a connection here?
Best regards!
Markus Thomas Schuette

Bubolz Letter from MN to WI (B. Bubolz and Carl Bubolz) 1873

Hello everyone, I found an old letter in my grandmother's house. It was already roughly translated and I thought I would post it on here to hopefully make a connection. It's very interesting. It is not specific, but It was writing to my Bubolz ancestors living in Rockland, WI at the time. If anyone has any details or information on a B. Bubolz or a Carl Bubolz from MN, please contact me. Carl would have died before 1873. Thanks, enjoy.

April 1, 1873

Dear Friend,
I’m just in the mood of writing a letter. I’ve been in America since 1868. I have been trying to contact you thru a paper that I found your name in. I’m hoping it is you. In the paper I see your mother and father died.
In Germany I didn’t like it anymore. I was 3 1/2 years a soldier in the army and then made a voyage to America landing in New York. Broke! No Money!
After earning a little money in New York I left for Milwaukee. I spent one year in Milwaukee looking for something to do. Here I heard in Minnesota that there was good land and no woods.
Traveling here was expensive. I acquired 80 acres of land here. The open are ailing here from the cold weather. My dear brother and I really don’t like it here. Last winter my neighbor and her two sons froze to death. This winter we might have more because it’s so very cold here. My neighbor had 8 head of cattle froze in the barn.
I’d like to sell here, take what I can get and go back to Wisconsin as a worker. Here in Minnesota winter and snow comes too fast, and sometimes can’t get to the barn for 2 or 3 days.
I would like to sell here and buy a couple of acres. Is there some still available there.
Dear brother write me if I can come from Milwaukee to Manitowoc and then to Reedsville.
Our brother Carl Bubolz is dead too, but we all must go that way. Believe in the Lord Jesus and God’s throne and I greet you in the Lord.

B. Bubolz
Freidrich
Hi Laurie,
After alot of research, I think we have a connection. I have Maria in my family tree also. Maria was the daughter of Charles (Karl) Bubolz and Wilhelmina Emke (you have Kemke) Charles had seven children, Mina, Emilie, Augusta, Robert, Maria (Mary), Charles, and Mena.

Charles Bubolz had three brothers Frederick, Ferdinand, and Daniel. Frederick was my great great grandfather. They came to the United States in 1856 from Pommerania.

I have some information on Mary's brother, Robert, but this family is completely lost to our side. I would love to hear how your related.

Hello Laurie,

Karl (Charles) and Wilhelmina Emke are indeed in my family tree. Charles and Wilhelmina came from Rubenhagen, Pommern, Germany in 1856 and settled in Reedsville, WI. My grandmother still owned the original homestead. Charles came over with his parents, Johann Daniel Bubolz, his wife Charlotte (Bergemann) Bubolz, and three brothers Daniel II, Frederick I, and Ferdinand. All four brother fought in the Civil War and Charles actually died in it. Frederick was my great, great grandfather. My grandpa was Frederick Bubolz II. I am currently working on your side of the family line and would love your input. Please email at bubolzfamily@yahoo.com or bubbleboy82@yahoo.com. And check out my incomplete website at www.geocities.com/bubolzfamily. I hope to hear from you soon.
