Did you ever find Dascum's first wife Julia? In the 1880 census there is a Dascum Smith with a wife name Julia living in Louisville, Jefferson, KY. On familysearch.org the person who intrepted his name thought it looked like Daseoni Smith, but if you look at the original it is spelled Dascom.
