My ancestor, Thomas Buckingham, was also a shoemaker in WI, and came over in 1840, on the ship Pontiac. He lived in Racine for a bit, but didn't have a brother Burford.
I tend to think many of those Wisconsin Buckinghams are from North Devon...
Have you found out more since 2005?? I have seen Burford B's in the various WI censuses over the years...
