Yes Teddy is still the guitar player, and I worked at the Post Office for 36 years before I retired in 1999. Phyllis and I were at Mary and Hershel's before he died and went back for the funeral. Mary and Pat came here a couple of months after the funeral visiting the area, looking up old memories.
Harry is the one that married Phyllis and I back in 1962. Vernon came down with Mary and Hershel for a short visit back in 95 or 96 when we lived at Tamms. Had not seen any of the others in years.
We were lucky enough to get a lot of Buckles, Hughes information from my mom before she died.

My email is thebuckles2@live.com, you can write anytime.

Larry and Phyllis Buckles

I remember going to someone's house after Tom and I got married. He played guitar I would imagine that is Teddy. I don't know any of the rest except one time when we was up that way we stopped in the post office and I was thinking one of you worked there? Does ancestry let you communicate by e-mail or do you have to do any communication through ancestry. Do you need any info about Easter or do you have all you need. Tom, Henry, Pat and Mary are the only ones left the rest have passed on. Hope to hear back from you .
Amanda Hughes

That was Ellis and Frances that lived in Mound City, Cairo and Grand Chain. We lived at Blanche VonNida's in a rental house she had. Daddy (Ellis died in 1954 and is buried in Cairo City Cemetery in Villa Ridge, Mom (Frances) died in 2002, she is buried beside daddy. Teddy is still in Nashville (used to be Illinois) but he now lives in Nashville Tennessee. I (Larry)live in Villa Ridge again. Have lived here for about 5 years. I pastor Villa Ridge Union Church. My wife (Phyllis) have 2 children, a daughter in Phoenix and a son in Cape Girardeau MO. When we were growing up we lived at Von Nida's, Easter and her family lived across a little valley in a house owned by Everett Price. Later on after daddy died we went to Sterling and stayed with Aunt Easter for a month, she tried to get mom to move up there too but she stayed in Pulaski County til she died.

I am trying to get some of his geneolgy done before he forgets it all. I do have an article ( I don't know where it came from but it has a pic of Malinda & William Frances Buckles and some info about thembut you may already have it. I don't know how old the article is but 1 line of it is "They left Mound City and lived a short time in Cairo and Grand Chain, and in 1946 moved near Villa Ridge on the Von Nida Farm." It also says Frances still lives in Mounds, one son Teddy lives in Nashville, Il and Larry lives in Mounds.

Thanks, this does make more sense! I am trying to clean up my database and double check everything and there is quite a bit of conflicting information out on the WorldConnect about the Buckles line.

My line of the Buckles goes from Robert, Sr. to James, John, William (1795), Abner, Edgar, Harlan, my mother and then me. My line settled in Van Buren County, IA.

I may double check with you on the children of Robert and Rachel here in the next couple of days! Thanks again!

Hello Terri,
I can help you with this information.
William Buckles (1743-1824) was married first to Mehitable Gerrard (1745-1768) mariage date:1767, and had two children by her:
1. William Jr born in 1767
2. Mehitable born in 1768
William then married Priscilla Beal Hendricks (1751-1804)The marriage date is 1768.
They had 4 children for sure, with 2 that have not been proven. The two questionable ones are Edmund and Levi.
1. James (1770-1837)
2. Henry (772-1832)
3. Daniel (1774-1854)
4. Abigail (1778-1836)
Robert's (1740) wife was Rachel Van Metre and they did have 9 children. If you need their names, I do have them.
William (1743) is my line.
Trust this helps.

I have been updating my Buckles database and have come across some conflicting information regarding a marriage to Priscilla Beall HENDRICKS. One source of information shows her married to Robert BUCKLES (1740) with six children listed and another source shows her married to William BUCKLES (1743) with one child. Which one is the correct listing?

My two sources also show that Robert (1740) was also married to Rachel VAN METRE (9 children) and that William (1743) was also married to Mehitable GERRARD with no information on children.

Frank W. Buckles last WWI vet

Frank Wood Buckles is the last known surviving veteran of
World War I. He was born in 1901 in Harrison Co., MO, the son of James Clark Buckles (1857 IL - 1952 OK) and Theresa J. Keown (1859 IL - 1936 OK). Frank, age 107, was honored Memorial Day 2008 at the National WWI Museum in Kansas City, MO. There are several interesting articles about Frank via Google. Amazingly at the age of 107 he is very alert, reads a lot, and does daily exercises. Congratulations, Frank!

I requested the DAR application papers for our elusive Robert Sr. and they may help, or futher confuse us. His birthday is TYPED 15 May 1702, with the "May" crossed off and "June" handwritten above. For the born at entry it is typed in "England" with "Yorkshire" handwritten after.
FYI his service during the Revolutionary War was:
"Robert Buckles Sr. was too old for Military duty in the American Revolution. He furinshed supplies for the use of the state of Virginia. He gave 34 bushels of wheat. (Certificate No. 266. Berkley County Va.
Hello,

I would appreciate the info you have in the Word Document. My research on the Buckle family in England continues to facinate me. My e-mail address is rabook@msn.com.

I would like to identify Robert 1702 in some record.

Would you know the name of Sir Christopher Buckle (1629)'s third son? His eldest, Christopher was born in 1654 and died in 1706. Cuthbert's birthdate is 1658 - , but I am not sure of his death date. I cannot find the third son's name anywhere.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Rebecca
Thank you for your reply. Every tidbit of information helps when it is put together. I have nothing new though I have tried many different directions.
I have seen both dates given for his birthday. Everyone seems to have Yorkshire as the location of his brth, so I do not understand why we cannot locate the right family.
We will keep searching.
Thank you for your reply. So far I have established that we are not descendant through the Christopher Buckle line. This line originated with Cuthbert Buckle (1533) who had one son Christopher, and so on and so forth with the first son being Christopher. The Buckle Family Papers establishes this line very well.
I am trying to follow the different lines through other sons. Anyone is welcome to join the search and help out.
Good luck in your search.

Thank you for your response. I am interested in Cuthbert (1658), because I do not have information on him. Where did you obtain your info on his two sons?
A lot of research has been done on the Buckles of Banstead, and we do not seem to be related to them.
There are a couple of problems with your information which I will point out. Sir Christopher Buckle (1586-1660)was married to Catherine Barnham (1586-1646)in about 1606; they had a large family, including two sons: Cuthbert, born in 1627 also died in 1628. This is according to the parrish records. Sir Christopher (1586)'s second son, Sir Christopher (1629-1712) married Elizabeth Lewis. Two of their sons were Christopher (1654-1706) and Cuthbert (1658-?). It is hard to keep the Cuthberts and Christophers in order.
I am pointing out these two errors, in order to correct mistakes going around. You can check this out on the Yorkshire Parrish Records as well as the Buckle Family Papers. Elizabeth is being assigned to the wrong Sir Cristopher.
Another error is that Johan Davye is Sir Christopher's mother (1586). She died without issue before 1582, and Sir Cuthbert (1533-1594) remarried im 1582, Elizabeth Marston, who is the mother of his only son.
I would be interested in any information or documentation on Cuthbert Buckle (1658).
Thank you, Rebecca

I am also doing research on Robert Buckles b.1702. I am at a standstill as well. I would suggest purchasing some research material. The Complete Book of Emmigrants in Bondage by peter Wilson Coldham. I believe you can purchase this on CD, as it will be easier to locate the surname, Notable British Families published by Burkes Peerage. I have also done extensive research on Cuthbert Buckle b.1530. I am finding that my lineage does trace back to Cuthbert Buckle B.1510. Wives and mothers are still a puzzle expecially since some have been married several times and to woman much younger than themselves. Its putting the right mother to the right child. Just putting names into those fields that could be possibilities may allow for more hints to come up and locate historic documents. So who you think may be his Mother today may actually become a second wife or stepmother later. oh and you also may want to check out colonial Virginia source records, since he did end up in Virginia. Just use your web search to find those materials.

Sir Cuthbert Buckle family papers are viewable on UK National Archives
http://www.a2a.org.uk/html/182-buckle.htm
you will see that Cuthbert only had one son Christopher(1590) who moved to Banstead, Surrey this branch are the ancestors fo the English Naval hero Sir Matthew Buckle there appears to be no Roberts on that line.So if Roberts is at all related it would have to be from common ancestors
I have a word document for this particular branch from Cuthberts father down to late 1800's if anyone would like me to send it please contact me in kelty@bigpond,.net.au am happy to share the information, or can I attach it here? it was given to me by an English Buckle descendent some time ago as I have Buckles of East Meon where Christopher 1629 was married and one of his child was born there-his wifes family had property there but no apparent connection to Buckles there

I left off my last message that IGI has a Robert Bucle christened in Brough Under Stainmore Westmoreland, in 1584
his father was a Christopher it is always possible that that is a spelling anonomality. Cuthbert 1533 had a brother Christopher, there is no information as to whether he moved south, perhap's if this is the same family Robert is descended from this branch. Hughs IGI site has a few Bucle and Buckle parish records under County Westmoreland, town Brough Under Stainmore, Unfortunately Robert 1712 isn't there but the local Family History centre may have more.
