I just found another mention of this family in the Sept. 17, 1873 issue of the Rockland (Maine) Gazette:
"Our community are pained by the probable loss of two Rockland vessels, with those on board, in the gale of August 24. Schooner Fanny Bucklin, Capt. Edward Bucklin, left Sydney, Cape Breton, before the gale, laden with coal for Boston, and no tidings hae since been heard of her. Cape Bucklin was accompanied by his wife and two children, a boy and a girl, and left two daughters at home."
From the 1870 census for Rockland, Maine the names of the two daughters left at home were Hattie & Maggie.
