City Resident's Shawnee Rites Will Be Friday

Services will be at 10 am Friday in the Gaskill funeral home at Shawnee for P.L. Bucy, 77, of 1015 N. Harvey, who died early Tuesday in an Oklahoma City hospital. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery at Shawnee.

Bucy was born September 3, 1878, in St Marys, W. Va. He lived in several Oklahoma cities before moving to Oklahoma City several years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs Lora Bucy of the home, a brother, C.J. Bucy, Shawnee, and two sisters, Mrs Olive Bell and Mrs Ray Ferguson.

Twyman N Bucy of Indiana was killed August 10, 1945, in the South Pacific during World War II. He is officially listed as missing or buried at sea. His name appears on the “Tablets of the Missing” at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. We are seeking information regarding his military and civilian life.

I am a retired Hoosier from Madison County residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. We are seeking family and military information about servicemen from your county killed in the South Pacific during World War II. There are 17,206 Americans buried here and thousands more that are missing or buried at sea and are honored on the “Tablets of the Missing”. My wife and I visited the cemetery as visitors and left with a mission in our heart. We have been taking photographs of the graves of the Indiana servicemen buried here and have been uniting them (at no charge) with their family members in Indiana and across the United States. To receive the photo of your family member, neighbor or friend all you need is a working email address. We do not send them to regular mailing addresses due to the costs. Please help us find the families of the men that might still be living. Our project is only successful because of teamwork and your contributions are noted on our website. If you wish to help us we will be pleased to add your name to our ACKNOWLEDGMENT page on the website. The obituaries usually did not appear till to three months after the death date.

If you are not a genealogist you can help by just picking up the telephone directory and find someone with the same last name and give them a call. It has worked many times for us.

I am looking for any information regarding Mary Aditha Bucy. I don't have much infomration to share, but here's what I have:

Mary Aditha Bucy married Homer Byron Myler on 23 MAR 1878. Their daughter is Lowessa (or Sarah Lowessa) Myler who married Louis Earl Lonsway. Lowessa died at an early age..around 26 years old. Lowessa's daughter is Marian Elizabeth Lonsway - my great-grandmother.

Any information would be very helpful!

Charles Busey married Elizabeth Dawson in 1813. The spouse of their son that you mention was Mrs. Nancy Cheffy (not Steffy). Daniel McDevitt (not McDaid) married Rebecca Busey who was Charles' sister, not his daughter. I have more information on this line, if you are interested.

Here is all the information we have been able to find. This was thru a marriage certificate, so I am assuming it is correct. Charles William Bucy married Izora Jane Bailey in Logan County West Virginia on February 7, 1918. She was the daughter of A. C. Bailey and Rhonda Clemintine Harvey Bailey. Charles William's parents were Willam and Rebecca Hall Bucy. I hope this helps you. Any information or leads you can provide will be truly appreciated.

Hello, my father, Charles Walter Bucy was born in Stubenville Oh in 1919 the son of Charles William Bucy and Izora Bailey Bucy. Charles William died of pneumonia in about 1920 or 1921. My grandmother returned to southern West Virgina and we have no information whatsoever about his family. He was an only child as my grandmother never remarried. If you have any information you could share or point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

There's a large clan of Bucy's from Western KY - What was the Jackson Purchase.
Most settled along the border between Calloway Co., KY and Henry Co., TN.
While I do not have your specific ancestor in my records, you might contact Pam Paschke. Her address is "paschk@juno.com" . She has a larger database.
It might also help to have some dates. You might have to do some census lookups to get back to someone on our list.

William Burton Bucy and his sister Margaret Alcorn Bucy were two of the six known children of Darwin Erasmus "Erasmus" Bucy (1847-1917) and Jane Bowman (ca 1849-1893) of Wellsburg, WVa. Those six children were as follows:

William Burton Bucy (1873-)
John Anderson Bucy (1874-) married Etta Davis
Darwin Erasmus Bucy, Jr. (1876-) married Anna St. Clair
Margaret Alcorn Bucy (1879-)
B. Harden Bucy (1882-)
Harry Bucy (1889-)

Erasmus was born in Jefferson Co, Ohio, and served in the Civil War, and his pension papers provide the vital statistics for his life. Erasmus had two older brothers who also served in the Union troops.

Thanks for your response! Unfortunately, I don't have too much info on her. I believe she may have been born mid 1880's and died somewhere between 1934-1936 in Morgantown WV.
She had a son George Wilson and a daughter-my grandmother-Margaret Virginia Wilson was born in Wellsburg WV in Brooke County-later moved to New Cumberland in Hancock County and married John Scott Brown. Margaret Bucy's husband-Charles Wilson owned a lumber yard in Follansbee and was an execuive of a bank there. I know there are several Bucy
relatives living in or near Wellsburg, but I
don't have any other information to connect them to my Margaret Bucy. If any of this makes a connection to one of the Margaret's

Apparently from Ohio, from large family. Some names of brothers and sisters are Blanche, Howard, Carl, Albert Anna. Married Jane A. Stevens, who also had several brothers and sisters, Etta, Bell, John, Frank Elsworth. My husbands Mother was born in Harrison County, Ohio in 1905.
She had several sisters who seemingly were all born in that same area. Perhaps, Stark County, Canton, Ohio. That is another city that seems to reappear in the limited information I found in a family Bible.
I would grearly appreciate hearing from anyone with information on these Bucy's.

Willim E. Bucy married Rebecca J. Hall in Jefferson Co, Oh, about 1889 (vol 11, page 426). They apparently had a son Charels Bucy born 11 June 1890 in Steubenville (8th Street). I got this raw data from a visit to Steubenville many years ago. I

Do you have an approx birth date or marriage date for your gg grandmother? I have a large file of Bucy data. Which counties do you mean by western W.Va.? Some of the Jefferson Co, Ohio, Bucy families migrated over to W.Va., but there were other Bucys around that she could also connect to. Now you made it easy! Margaret was the 4th of 6 children of Erasmus Jane (Bowman) Bucy. Erasmus (he went by his middle name) served in the D1 and G2 West Virginia Infantry where his duties included driving an ambulance. He deserted in June 1865, but was given amnesty for that and did receive a pension. I will email you and we can exchange info.

Is there any way you can get a copy of your grandmother's birth certificate? I need her father's name, her mother's name didn't help me -- or was it her mother who was a Bucy, too? You also need to find them in the 1920 census -- do you have any idea where they were living then? When they left Kentucky, where did they settle? How about a marriage certificate for Maude?
Most of my data ends around 1900 -- by choice I wanted to cut it off there, figuring most people could get back that far.
Most of the Bucys of Kentucky were descended from Edward Bucy Jr. who left Maryland for Pittsylvania Co, Va before 1790, and later crossed over the state line to Caswell Co, NC. Most of his descendants went to Calloway Co, Ky, or Henry Co, Tn. So if you are looking, that is where to concentrate. Get as much information about your grandmother and her mother as you can before you try to go further back. Then you will be more sure of where you are headed. Always work backwards -- don't try for great leaps back until you've examined each generation for all clues. I'd be glad to help if you can just find out a bit more.

This book was printed in 1968. According to this book, you were born on November 14, 1953? Right? This about the only book compiled by Bucys rather than an outside genealogy publishing company telling you that they have a book of Bucys and all it amounts to is a book of names and addresses of all the Bucys in the US. I have seen a record of an Eli Bucy marrying a Peggy Ashly in Jefferson County, OH. Ashly may actually be Ashby. I am more curious about the Ashby family in Jefferson County. Judging by the close proximity of the Bucy and Ashby clans in Jefferson County, there may be a tie-in to help me with some of these Ashby daughters. There were about 5 daughters and seven sons born to Abel and Harriett Ashby in Jefferson County. I have seen Ashby spelled Ashley, as well as Ashly. I am perplexed by the lack of Ashby records in Jefferson County since the Ashbys were there from about 1811 until the 1860s. Any direction will be greatly appreciated,

John Bucy of Allegheny Co. PA -s/o William Bucy of OH?

I'm looking for info. on my great-great grandfather, John Bucy of Allegheny County, PA, born 1854 married Elizabeth Jackson Bucy in 1875.

He first appears in 1880 Census in Jefferson, PA. The census says his parents were born in Ohio.

In 1870, I see a William and Margaret Bucy with a son Charles J. in nearby Washington, PA, but not a John Bucy anywhere in U.S. before 1880 that fits his background. Could John be "Charles J"., be the son of William and Margaret? Anyone know who John Bucy's parents could have been?

William and Margaret were from Ohio and I believe returned to Ohio (perhaps Steubenville area) by the 1890 Census. I think William was born about 1831.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Searching for information Re. my father, "Dr. Donald Louis Bucy" who married Sally Ann Smeltzer in 1955-1956.Smeltzer, my mother was attending Lutheran College in Baltimore, MD obtaining her R.N. in Nursing. Bucy was attending Univ. of Maryland (Medicine) before earning his M.D.
Practiced in the Rockville, Maryland area.
Can anyone out there help me find out about my Father?
