My father was Alexander Henry Sims, whose mother was Isabel (nee Budge). My father was named Alexander (when he was born in 1917) after his mother's younger brother, Alexander, who was killed in Paschendale during World War I. My paternal grandmother's parents lived in Ashfield, a suburb of Sydney in New South Wales. I remember my father saying that his maternal grandfather spoke with a Scottish accent.
