NEXT:
Son William m Helen Meiklejohn and moved to Edinburgh.
Son Donald m Christian Douglas and remained in Caithness.
They both had sons DAVID.
William's son David was born in Edinburgh 1786
OC 14 SEP 1786 St Cuthbert Midlothian
and married and moved to Lanark where he died before 1861.

Donald's son David was born in Watten 1790.
OC 23 OCT 1790 Watten Caithness -
He left Caithness married Janet BROWN in Edinburgh and died 1839 in DUNDEE. Some trees have these two Davids confused.

Have you got your tree on internet. Then I could see what you need. I need to check back some data I have about JOhn who m Janet Bain.

Hi Trish,
William Budge of 1738 moved to Edinburgh and had William Budge of 1791 who married Mary Nelson Scott. They had William Budge in 1828 and he married Ann Hyer. They moved to Utah, USA. They had William Arthur Budge in 1884 who married Elizabeth Cole. They had Preston Morgan Budge in 1896, my gfather, who married Irene Emma Holmes. They had my mother, Nondus Budge Shea.
I do have info on children and siblings on most of these, however I cannot get past John Budge B: 1703 in Caithness.

I believe my grandmother is from this line of Budges. I need to confirm, but I believe Jean Elsie Budge is from the Hyer/Budge line.

Jean Elsie Budge married Howard Morgan Hendrix. Their son Howard Allen Hendrix is my father.

Kerry, James Budge is my husband's g g grandfather. Are you descended through Alexander? I have the inquest on Mary Ann's death somewhere. I haven't touched this side of the family for a while but would be most interested in what your link is.

James had a son by the name of William Henry Budge to his first wife Margaret McCarthy in Victoria, Margaret died quite young. William Henry married a Sarah Ann Pearce in Queensland and he in turn had a daughter by the name of Margaret Budge who was my husband's grandmother, she married George Edwards.

Hi, Judy. I am at present researching emigrants from Caithness (as well as immigrants to) for an exhibition during summer 2009 at the Castletown Heritage Centre here in Caithness. I'm trying to gather together family stories and wonder if you would write to me about your family. I am interested in knowing how people got on in where ever it is they settled, where they lived and what they did for work, and also if any in the family returned to Caithness. I've found several families in old Caithness census records with children born in Canada or the US, so apparently some families returned to Scotland.

Does any body have any information on Alexander Budge.
Last i heard he was living in Mount Forrest Ont.
He was born Orphir Orkney Scotland about 1892 .
He came to Canada with his parents abt 1906.I have not found that as yet.He was in the 1st world war ,i know,and he must of stayed over seas,when the war was over.
He married a Isabel Taylor from Scotland ,and they had a daughter .Any info would be appreciated.Thanks

My gg grandmother (Sara Morin) her mother was Barbara Helene Budge and her father was William Budge. Barbara married David Morin and their daughter Sara married Pierre Henri dit Pied-Blanc which is my great grandfather. He was a native from Maniwaki, Quebec. Please let me know if this is the information you have been searching for. I have been building my family tree and came across the connections through baptismal records.

Donald was born about 1797 in the Olrig district to William Christian and Margaret Barnason.
Donald Christian married Elizabeth Clyne 1829 Bower/Watten.
Elizabeth was born 1805 Bower, to John Clyne and Elizabeth Manson.
They had 7 children- William 1829,Elizabeth 1832, John 1834, Margaret 1836, David Clyne Christian 1838, Donald 1840, Catherine 1845. Most were born in Watten, except David and Donald who were born in Halkirk.
Is any one reseaching these families?

fraid i dont have any info on my grandads parents, i know he had brothers my dad took me out to a farm round lybster
way when i was a nipper, grandad was called buchan but think that was a by name, he was a cooper in wick during the herring fishing , wish i had asked more questions now

If your grandfather was a cooper b Lybster named William.
There is one born 1883 app to John Budge and Janet Cormack.
John was a Master Carpenter/Joiner in the Village of Lybster. They had 12 children.
Have you found any BDM marriage cert for your Budge yet.

This is wonderful. A new cousin and in England! The Police song "Message in a Bottle" keeps going round and round my head. I sent out my message in a bottle and you replied.
It would be absolutely wonderful if you could send me information about Caroline Sarah's brothers and sisters. I have no information on them at all.

I do have more information on her descendants than I had last May. If you are interested, I’ll send you more. Here is some. I found my Welby family arriving in New York on the ship Columbine on 3 July 1848. Their name was spelled "Wilby" on the manifest. There was:
Wilby John (36)
“ Caroline (34)
“ Caroline (10)
“ John (8)
“ Charles (7)
“ Elizabeth (5)
“ Ann (4)
“ Nathan (2)
“ George (inf?)

They are all in Wisconsin in the 1850 US Census as “Wilba” but I can only find a few of them in the 1860 US Census. The Three oldest sons: John, Charles, and Nathan, all went to San Francisco, California around then. John was my Great-great-grandfather. I was born in San Francisco.

There are a few of us Welby descendants out West. We haven’t found any in Wisconsin yet but there should be some of us there. We are all so excited to discover a new cousin and especially one that has more information than we do.

Do you happen to know if Elizabeth's maiden name was "Sutherland" If so, then I have found their marriage in March of 1842 North Parish. John's parents are Donald Budge and Anne Guthrie (St. Margaret's Hope) and Elizabeth's parents are Daniel Sutherland and Helen Copland (Burray). Is this the correct family?

I have a Robert Budge from Orkney Scotland, Isle of Veira, (now known as Wyre) He was a man of war and served 7 yrs.before coming out. He went to Buffalo and sailed on the Great Lakes for 10 -12 yrs. before coming to Canada and settling in Holland Twnshp. He then settled permanently in Keppel Township.
Not sure if this is the same as this is all I know about his being part of the war.

I came across an old photo album which I purchased that has pictures in it. Some of the names are Berg?F.Garrett, Nora?Garrett Nov 12-1882, Baby Florence Belle Garrett 4 months old, Theresa Ann Garrett Oct 1885 16months old, Baby Jim Garrett/Stone 10 weeks old with a death notice attached "STONE-Tuesday evening, March 2, Francies Garrett, son of Frank N. and Martha S.STone aged 6 months. Funeral today (Wed) at 3pm from residence 915 Benton ST. Friends of the family invited." I can tell you who her brothers and sisters were and some of their descendants through to my mother, if that would help ? I have only just subscribed to this website so I will get them all on here as soon as I can. I haven't found any clues to her parents Thomas and Elizabeth apart from their marriage - 28th July 1794 in Great Stanmore, Middx. The eldest son was John Hadnutt Budge + 3 others, all butchers. They moved to London and had shops in Lower Marsh, Lambeth. Most of the family lived in the borough of Lambeth for the next 200 years ! I was born there. I'll get to work putting them all on here !

John and Elizabeth were born and married Orkney Islands Scotland and came to Canada by 1871 with 6 children. William was born Orkney March 15 1864. We aren't sure if it was North or South Ronaldsay. We don't know much more about William. He would be my gg uncle.
Children of John C and Elizabeth; Thomas,John G, Eliza,William,Louisa,James born in Scotland; Nathaniel,Albert,Helen,Ellen Jane(Nell) born in Canada.

I have no clue.If this is the right John C Budge and Elizabeth that would mean they were married 16 years before their first child arrived and since they had 10 and all survived it makes me think this might not be the right ones. My mother has a cousin who may know more. The message from the fellow who queried about a William and a Native wife has me wondering. We also have a foot in two canoes.

Chasing information on JAMES BUDGE – Born 18.4.1842 in Camelford, Cornwall, England and Died 19.3.1909 in Charters Towers, Australia and married on the 11th July, 1881 to MARY ANNE BURGESS (HAMPSON, MOUNTAIN) – born 27.5.1840 and died 1.7.1904 in Charters Towers.
