K

Without a place of birth, the research a bit difficult and long. Have you found the family in 1930 census?
What does it say? Was she an alien? If she lived pass 1940 than there is an Alien Registration Form to get.
I thought that you mentioned that the son returned to Ukraine? No paperwork ?
You know the history of Austria-Hungary empire. I gave you a map of it.
http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/austhung.htm
So the records would say Austria first for sure. What language did she speak?
Our first ancestors married within same region, religion (few exceptions) but for sure same language.
Depending on the place of birth, your search will be either in Poland or Ukraine, the historical region Galicia (maybe).
www.halgal.com

Michael Budnik b. 1842 m. Mary Kotlowski b. 1844 Poland. They were in Detroit by 1872 and had the following children:

Joseph b. 1866 m. Anastasia (Anna) Kreft He died in 1906

Valentine b. 1864 (There are two in census)

John b. 1869 (1930 he is residing with August Kreft)

Anton (Anthony) b. 1872

Francis (Frank) b. 1873 d. 1899 Detroit

Mary b. 1875 Detroit

Julie b. 1876 Detroit

_

Joseph's wife, Anastasia Kreft is my great grandfather's younger sister. She and Joseph are buried in the Budnik/Goike/Kreft plot (Section 32) at Mt. Olivet. I am seeking the descendants of the rest of the Budnik brothers and sisters and also believe August Kreft, who was residing with John Budnik is possibly the brother of my gg grandfather, John Kreft also buried in the above named plot.

Linda
http://www.geocities.com/jomilu2001

No we do not have a place of birth. Everyone of her chidrens birth certificates lists her coming from a different place. One states Ukraine, One states Poland, Another states Austria. But no specific city. She was never a naturalized citizen. Besides the different countries her name is spelled five different ways on all the documents. Very confusing.

Don't know them but it doesn't mean they were not related. John Goike could have been the brother of Anthony Goike who married Annastasia (Anna) Kreft Budnick. Her husband died young in 1905 and they already had children. She then married Anthony Goike and had a few more kids.

Our family also came from Danzig so there may be a connection.

I am searching for Anastasia (Stasia) Kreft who married a Goike and then when he died, she married a Budnik/Budnick. I believe she had son's named Anthony and Louis. Louis was believed to have had a son named George. Anastasia was born in Danzig, Germany about 1879. She arrived in Detroit with her parents and siblings about 1888. I was told the Budnik that she married (John or Joseph) was not the best type of person and would not even pay for her grave so she is buried next to the Budnik plot where her parents are also buried (they're side-by-side). Parents were John and Anna Kreft. She had siblings Anthony, Joseph, John - perhaps more. She may have had a daughter, Martha who married into the Ponke family (the history is confused and have not had help sorting it all out).

Any help appreciated.

Linda
