THe whole Budziak went to USA from Poland - exactly from South part of Poland called Galicja - At that time end of XIX cent. this area was ocuppied by Austria Empire.

Orginaly the village's names are Cieklin near Jasło where you can find still many Budziak's.

Since I come from Polish part of the family if you are interested I can post you more information abt. this branch. brgds Andrzej

I know this might be completely out of place and potentially unrelated to the whole nature of this message board, and I apologize if I am in any way intruding... I am 19 years old and I live in Cleveland, Ohio. I found out about a year ago that I was adopted, just a couple days ago found out that my real grandfather's name could in fact potentially be Budziak, and that he lives in Cleveland.

I am at the point where I am so curious as to who my real parents are that I am finally getting up the guts to start searching, and this seemed to me like an appropriate place. If ANYONE has ANY information whatsoever, please do not hesitate to email me directly at kearseycleveland@aol.com. It would honestly and sincerely mean more to me than you will ever know.

Again, I apologize if this is out of place. It's something thats just been bugging me a lot lately. Thank you for your time, and good luck finding out more about your family on this site! :)

Hi Bob,

My gr-father, Marcin Godlewski, came from Osobnica and his sister, Maryanna Godlewski married Jacob Bragiel. I do not have much info right now about their life in Poland but I do know that Marcin and some siblings came to the US and all settled in Chicago. I do not know when Maryanna Bragiel came here, but she died in 1932 at the age of 70 (born around 1862) and is buried in the Godlewski family plot in Chicago.

Marcin, Joseph, Maryanna and Wojciech are the only siblings that I know of. Their parents were Andrew Godlewski and Regina Nowak Godlewski.

Marcin married Sophie Pyznar in 1897 in Chicago and she died in 1907 at childbirth at the age of 30. Sophie's parents were Laurentis Pyznar and Marianna Kaczor or Koczur Pyznar.

Marcin then married my gr-mother, Rozalia Szewczyk/Rapsky in 1907. Sophie Pyznar was from Osobnica and Rozalia was from Maniowy, Poland.

Joseph married Katarzyna Pyznar, Sophie's cousin, in Chicago. in 1904. Katarzyna's parents were Paul Pyznar and Sophie Kosiek Pyznar.

Wojciech came to the US several times to Chicago to visit but always went back as far as I can tell. His wife was in Poland.

I am just writing all this to give you some more names of family back in Osobnica. Many, many Bragiels in Chicago. Others in Chicago from Osobnica are Kudla, Lesniak, Rolek, Gliwa, Ziemba,

On one church record for Sophie Pyznar Godlewski she lists her name as Budziak so maybe her mother was once a Budziak and then a Kaczur or Koczur.

Is your father still living?? Since you came in 1958, you and your father must remember many things from Osobnicia. Do any of these names sound familiar??

I would love to hear all about your life in Osobnica and would love to know that maybe Maryanna and Jacob are related to Jadwiga Bragiel.

Let me know if any of these names sound familiar or maybe if there is a family relation.

Barb

My paternal Grandmother was Jadwiga Bragiel. She married Jakub Budziak sometime shortly after 1900. They both come from the village of Osobnica, Poland. Their youngest son, Kazimierz (84) is my father. We emigrated to Canada in 1958 and live in Toronto.

Hi! My grandparents are Catherine and John Budziak. They lived in Cleveland, Ohio,

The reason I am replying is because both Josephine and Wanda Gans manes sound familiar.

I am aware that my grandfather had a sister whose last name was Zak and she had 12 children. I think my grandfather also had a cousin who change his name to Bud, so he was known as John Bud.

I am currently looking for info on my grandparent as to when they came to the USA, but have been unable to find anything. I would appreciate hearing from you.

I was just on family trees and came across a posting about Wojciech Bragiel who married Katherine Budziak. Also that they came from Osobnica, Poland. Well, my gr-father's sister, Maryanna Godlewski was married to Jacob Bragiel and she died in Chicago in 1932 at the age of 70. There are many ties with the Bragiel and Godlewski families. Others from Osobnica are: Pyznar, Gliwa, Lesniak. If there is any connection that you can find, please let me know. Thanks, Barb

I also come from the Budziak -Bragiel family on my father's side who is now 88 years old and post stroke. My father's family comes from Osobnica-Poland, and he used to tell us many stories of all relatives. I will be making a family tree book with the assistance of my uncle - my father's younger brother. I would like to know a little more of where you are so I can ask my uncle for blood line connections.
