I am new to genealogy, and am searching for records of my Grandfather Martin Luitpold Buechler. He changed his name to Bigelow in the US. I believe he was born in Baded-Baden Aug 16,1865. His mother's maiden was Catherine Elizabeth Hesse. I believe he was brother to Ambrose, Emily and Julius. I know he married Hannah Horan in the US about 1890. I think he came over around 1883 or so. Family history has it that he studied for a short time to be a monk. This is not confirmed. ANY help about his parents, family, the exact date he came to the US, where he studied, if indeed he did study to be a monk, would be appreciated.

Hi,
Don't know if this will be of help to you or not, but my mother's family spelled their name BUECHLER (BUECHELER) when living in Endingen, Baden Germany in the early 1800's. The name was pronounced "Beekler". Don't know when they changed the spelling to BIECHELE/R, but that is the way it is spelled in early records. It is still pronounced "BEEKLER/BEEKLEE". My BIECHELEs settled in Canton, Ohio around 1827. They lived in the Black Forest of Baden, Germany in the little village of Endingen.
If you are interested, please E-mail me at: DLRCSJ3430@AOL.COM or DRock74246@AOL.COM.

Donna ROCK

Charles,
Katherine Buechler and William Bernsee are my Paternal Great-Grandparents. Katherine was the Daughter of John Buechler and Margaret UNKNOWN. You will find this Buechler family in the 1880 U.S. Census under the name John BUCHLER. Transcriber missed the letter E.

William Bernsee was the son of William Bernsee and Willhelmina UNKNOWN. William had four siblings that I am aware of. Henry, Louise, Herman, and Emma. I believe that Lena Buechler and Katherine Buechler were cousins that married Bernsee brothers Henry and William, respectively.

William and Katherine had two children, Howard and Helen. Helen Bernsee is my grandmother. She married Arthur George Ralls. Helen and Arthur were the Parents of four children, Arleen, William, Helen, and Robert Edward. Robert Edward Ralls is my father.

Craig

Looking for Henry and Elizabeth Buechler

I am looking for a Henry and Elizabeth Buechler, little is known about them, though. Henry was born in Zurich, Zürich, Switzerland, and died somewhere from 1869 - 1880; probably in the US. Elizabeth (maiden name is Waldern) was born about 1829 in Zurich, Zürich, Switzerland (both parents were born in Zurich, Zürich, Switzerland), and died in the US. They had Charles, Emma, Caroline (spouse- Jacob Charles Grueser), Albert and Lousa (all but Emma were born in Virginia; possibly present-day West Virginia. Emma was born in Illinois). If you have any info on these people, please contact me here at Ancestry, or email me at Austin_933@yahoo.com. Thank you.

My new e-mail: j_vanko@verizon.net

The two Buechler families of Baltimore are connected by marriage only. My Father, John Vanko married Audrey Buechler. His first cousin, Bessie Marie Vanko, married William Buechler, Jr. Audrey and William are not related.

The descendants of Ferdinand Buechler in the Baltimore area (and now extending into southern Pennsylvania) carry the Buechler name today.

In my family, descended from Karl Buechler (and also descendants of his brother August) of Durlach-Aue, Karlsruhe, in Baden, Germany, the surname has died out.

We have a family reunion in the Baltimore area every June. We've done it for the past 4 years. The location has moved to Rocky Point State Park.

Contact me if your interested.

Re: Ludwig Buechler,Sr.

1843 to 1864 would make Ludwig 21 when he died. That seems young for someone who had threes wives.

The family search web site lists a marriage of a Ludwig Buechler to an Elisabeth Winckler in 1876. It also lists a Ludwig or Louis born about 1842 to married a Kate in 1873 with children's birth dates ranging from 1874 to 1889 in SD. This seems to come from the 1900 census.

There is also a Ludwig born about 1843 that came to the USA on the SS Thuringia in 1873. There was also a Katherine Buechler on the SS Thuringia that as born about 1850.

I'm looking for more information about John Buechler born about 1874 in SD and am thinking that Ludwig may be his father.

Two photo's of John Leonard and Mary Metzler: both small (approx. 2 " x 2"), probably taken circa 1890s available. Their son Frank Edward Henry Buechler (born 1 March 1871) married Daisy May Lind (Linn) on 18 Oct. 1894. Daisy, of Effingham, Ill. had three older sister: Susan Lind, Ada Lind, and Cappie Lind. (Have photo of all 4 as kids.) Not sure of Keller tie to Daisy; but know that Ida M. Keller was wife of Ernest F. Keller and they shared many photos with Daisy and Frank. They had a son Rufus E. Keller: all three buried at Shumway, Ill. Growing up I assumed Ida was family with Daisy but now I am not sure; maybe just close friends??? email at keskamariem@yahoo.com

I was in the Navy with a Marvin Buechler in 1960 thru '62. He'd probably be aged about 63 or so now. Our unit was an air anti-subamarine squadron 33. We made a couple of Far East cruises on the USS Bennington. Would this be the same Marv Buechler? I think he was from Aberdeen SD and had worked for a railroad line.
