Hello Max,
That is wonderful news - I haven't gone back further than William Beaumont's father who was indeed a pawnbroker. Sadly the money side of it didn't reach my generation!!!!! Buer Road in Fulham was named after William B who I think was in partnership with another chap - he certainly applied for the sewage system to be put in. It had been the site of Fulham Ladies prison and it is wonderful to see that many of the original Victorian still exist although the majority of the houses have all been divided into flats and sell in the region of £250,000+! I didn't know they originated from Essex. I always wondered why they all seemed to be born in Bethnal Green when the majority of it was slum? He married Sarah Golding whose father owned pubs and I think William B carried on with this before obviously becoming a property developer! His son William Golding Cranch Buer carried on with the wine business and became a freeman of the City of London and was in the Vintners Society. I would be very interested in any info you have. Thank you
