I was born in Dearborn 1957. The family moved first to Brownville Texas in 1960 then onto California in 1963. Mom found out we lived less than 5 miles from her cousin Shirley, the daughter of Walter Beutner. We were close with them for a long time. And yes, it is great to meet a member of the Beutner clan!

Yes, Henry Horn. I believe they are buried at the same cemetery as Fred and Lizzie. I will send an email today. Send your email address and I will put it in my email. - I have no ideas about the German connections. Great, if we pool all our resources maybe we can get somewhere meaningful, eh. I'll have to get in touch with my cousin again, she lives in Dearborn, nudge her a bit for more information. Perhaps she'll find more urgency once she knows we have others researching the family line. – So nice to meet you Sherry! I’ll look up the marriage record for Lizzie and Fred today and email it to you.

Thanks so much for your reply. I am thrilled. Debbie,s, grandmother was married to Henry Horn of New Boston, Michigan. I would love to get in touch with Debbie. Not sure who her parents are. We used to spend a lot of time on her Grandparents farm in New Boston as kids. I just returned from a visit to Germany last month, but had no idea where the family originated from. I had an uncle who traced the line back to Hamburg, but that info seems to have been lost as the uncle has passed away and I'm not sure his son knows where it is.

Again thanks for your help and please put me in touch with Debbie,
Sherry

Okay, so we are related...my grandmother (Martha died 1987 here in California) and your grandfather are brother and sister. In fact, I have been communicating with Debbie, Ida's granddaughter in the last year or so, and a closer relative to you. As an FYI, I was incorrect about Fred's emigration info, another Fred in NY. - I found the marriage record for Fred and Lizzie, married 1882'ish in Detroit. Someday I will attach the info in Ancestry. I believe Lizzie emigrated with her parents as I find a brother and sister's marriage info for Springwells. I can't recall all the details at the moment to be able draw this conclusion. I have not done a lot of work on this line... yet. The next area is emigration then onto Germany but the European records will be time consuming and I fear they will be so hard to trace, and I don’t read nor speak German. Mother always told me Freddy was from Bavaria but who knows. I have no picture of Fred and only one picture of Lizzie via German Registration during WWI. One of Freddy's children ended up with all the family photos but we never knew who. - As a side note, perhaps you've heard of Lizzie's wedding dress being displayed at the old Hudson's store for many years until Macy's bought them out. Apparently, my Grandmother donated it to the Dearborn Historical Museum. Your cousin Debbie inquired about it last year and was told it is in deep storage for the time being as the museum is in need of renovation and they are depending on donations for this. – I have a cousin who did a family tree many years ago but her hard drive was destroyed. She was working on data retrieval but has more work do in this area. I am hoping for more information than what I have but all I can do is wait. Let me know if you’d like to hook up with Debbie and I will let her know. - Nancy

You could have printed those pages, or even photographed the microfilm screen to avoid wasting quarters. Or (posting this in 2011) just photograph the directory with a phone.

Gary Rebholz
Milwaukee Wis.
gary.rebholz@gmail.com

"Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" 1844-1950

Edgar

Beutner's of Wayne County Michigan

I read all 800 emails at this board and found no info on Michigan Beutner’s. My mother use to tell me stories of her parents driving to New York and Minnesota/Wisconsin (?) to visit with Beutner relatives. The only name I can recall now is Otto who lived in NY. I know my family is related to these Buettner lines somewhere and I would like to start some communication with those looking for the same families.

My Great-Grandpa Frederick immigrated to New York on Aug 10, 1882, naturalized 1899. According to the historical documents, his name is spelled Beutner. His address 239 1st Ave NYC, and his witness Jacob Jungenman at 157 1st St, NYC.
Frederick married Louise Geikowski, most likely in NY, moving to New Boston, Michigan. They had 12 children:

1 - Otto Beutner 05 Nov 1888 May 1969
2 - Fred Beutner 18 Oct 1889 Jan 1963
3 - William Beutner 21 Dec 1893 Jul 1967
4 - Ida Beutner 13 Apr 1894	Aug 1976
5 - Edward Beutner 07 Apr 1896	Dec 1971
6 - Esther Beutner 17 Dec 1897	Aug 1984
7 - Edith Beutner 27 May 1898	Jan 1986
8 - Harry Beutner 19 Aug 1899	Oct 1980
9 - Walter Beutner 04 Nov 1901	Aug 1984
10 - Caroline Beutner 14 Aug 1903	Jun 1983
11 - Unknown Twin	14 Aug 1903
12 - Martha Ann Beutner 17 Feb 1906 Feb 1987
So if you are a Beutner seeking your ancestery please email me.

BUETHNER, BUETTNER - Zippnow, Kr. Deutsch Krone, W. Prussia

My husband's family [BÜTTNER, in Germany; BUETHNER or BUETTNER in USA] was from Zippnow, Dt. Krone, West Prussia area. The earliest known is David BÜTTNER, b. bef 1796. Zippnow is a small area, described as: Zippnow is a village in the north with 1985 inhabitants in the year 1939 with an own kath. and evang. parish. Also this locations had a Standesamt and a Amtsbezirk in this location. The jurisdiction was Jastrow. There were 174 farms at this time.

Researching in MN County Court Houses, I have found the name spelt 7 different ways, for the same person: Buettner, Buethner, Bittner, Bitner, Buttner, Butner, Bruttner, and maybe even a few others. Our family has always pronounced the name more like Bit ner. The German Ü translates to UE, therefore the spelling. If you have BITNERs from Germany, you may want to try the German spelling.

I have come across this line several times and have not made a connection between the two families. Although they are probably related. Just need to find out how. My GGG Grandfather Heinrich Sr was born about 1808 in Saxony, Germany and left Germany in about 1848. I believe that George Johann came here in the 1850's. Let me know if you need further info on your line as I have kept my notes on this line in hopes that I will connect the two families.

I am trying to trace my Grandmother's line. Her name was Alice W (Buettner) Tobias. Her father's name was Daniel Buettner, born in or around Erie, Pennsylvania in Sept. 1867. Daniel's parents both came from Germany. His wife was Minnie Reichert, born in Württemberg, Germany in Feb. 1874. She emigrated to the US in or around 1887 at the age of 13. If anybody has any info on Minnie Reichert or Daniel Buettner and their families would be greatly appreciated!! The plethora of various spellings for both Reichert and Buettner is mind boggling!

BUETTNERs from Steglitz, Germany to Wisconsin

I am trying to connect my great great grandmother, Ernestina Wilhelmina (BUETTNER) Gehrke with any siblings that immigrated to America around 1880 from STEGLITZ, Germany. Her death notice indicated she had 2 brothers, ? no names, sister Henrietta (BUETTNER) Zander (Mrs. William); (Henrietta was married to Herman Meade of Ripon first) of the Ripon or Fond du lac Wisconsin area.

Helpful sites for Buettner/Schroeder lines

Here are a couple of sites that may be useful if you ancestors were Buettners who married into the Schroeder family.

http://www.schroeder.ag/uk/index.htm

This one is actually a pdf file. You must zoom in to view it as it doesn't look like much of anything when you first bring it up.

http://www.schroeder.ag/tafeln/schroeder.pdf
