I am researching the SWINK connections to the BUFF line only.
I have William H. Buff B. abt 1868-1869 in Cleveland County the son of Joseph BUFF and Fannie "Unknown".
He married V. Emeline "Emma" SWINK in 1891 in Burke County, N.C. She was the daughter of Harrison SWINK & Emeline Lail. I believe she might have been called "Viney" SWINK as well.
I have a copy of their marriage license & certificate.
In the 1870 Census of Knob Creek, Twp. #11 in Cleveland County, N.C. it gives:
Buff, Peter, Jr. (Father)
Fannie (Mother)
Hartwell
Peter F.
David E.
Mary A.
Joseph T.
Riley G.
William H. (This is the one I'm interested in)
In the 1880 U.S. Fed. Census of Burke County:
Fanney BUFF, age 50, Head, Keeping House
Peter BUFF, Son, age 23
David BUFF, Son, age 22
Joseph Buf, Son, age 16
Biley BUFF, Son, age 15
William, Son, age 11 (I believe this is the one I'm seeking)
Aaron BUFF, Age 9
In the 1910 Census of Burke County I found:
Wallburn BUFF, head, age 54
Emma BUFF, wife, age 38
Ranso BUFF, son, age 13
I'm not sure this is them.
In the 1920 Census of Burke County, N.C. I found:
William BUFF, head, age 66
Emma BUFF, wife, age 46
(No children at home)
In the 1930 Census of Burke County, N.C. I found:
Emma BUFF, Head, age 55, Widow
If anyone has any connections with any of this family and can provide information I would appreciate it. It's possible these census records are not the ones that match up to William H. Buff and V. Emeline SWINK.
