Kathy, are you still available? This is quite an old posting. I hope you are still at this address. I have an Alexander Peacock born 1839-1840. Did you ever figure out which Alexander Peacock the Bible belonged to? I wonder if it had some names from my family???? dozenelk@hotmail.com

Re: Looking for parents of Isaac Buffalo - 1810

Isaac Buffalo Jr. was my gggrandfather. I too am interested in finding if he had any Native American heritage. My grand mother, Rhoda Langston Wilkinson always told us that "You ain't got no Injun blood " but the family always figured we were part Cherokee. His father, Isaac Buffalo, Sr. was born in North Carolina in 1784 and died in Tennessee in 1845 according to records on Ancestry.com . His grandfather was
Henry Buffaloe (1740-1806) North Carolina and his ggrandfather
was Arthur Buffaloe (1710-1759) N.C. Arthur's father is just listed as Buffaloe.

I was at Wiseman Cem. Sunday, for annual Decoration Day. Saw "Isac Buffalo" marker. Simple stone block abt. 8 x 16. Had name and "d. 1932." He and his wife's stones are among 10-20 similar stones in with Bookouts. Used to have file on these folk (frozen in hard drive and didn't transfer to new computer). Need help reconstructing this family to my GM's Bookout line. Rhoda Buffalo is beside him with "d. 1907" Rhoda Bookout is near them with no dates - as I recall, she is their granddaughter. Her father William M. Buffalo died. Her mother, Nancy H. Bookout, re-married J. J. Langston and little girl Rhoda went to live with Buffalo grandparents.
Would like to get this straight again. Your help most desired. Nancy H. Bookout would be my GGF's sister.
marshab52@yahoo.com

Buffalo Family tree

My name is David Buffalo and my grandfather was Douglas Buffalo from Brinkleyville, Halifax NC. He was birth date is listed around 1891. He married Mary T, last name unknown and unlisted.
When looking at the 1920 census their oldest child was age 15 years so it would seem he fathered this child at age 14. This leads me to believe either the birth date is off by a few years or something else.
Our family migrated to MD, NJ, NY, and MA. We recently became interested in tracing our roots but all of the aunts and uncles have died.
We haven't had much luck and became very flustered when we found the different spellings of the last name. It made us think Dougals' parents might have been slaves who were owned by the Buffaloe's and after the war deleted the "e". We also had heard through third and fourth parties that there is a connection to the indian tribe, Haliwa-Saponi Tribe, who populated the area. I've written to the tribal council but haven't receive a response and it's been over three months.
We're asking those more in the know than us beginners could give us some direction as to where to go from this point.

Thank you very much
David Buffalo

Mrs Buffalo, who
is a widow, was infatuiated with Moore, killing him when
she found him in the company of another woman.

Friends of Mrs Buffalo who are circulating the petition
asking that she be paroled, say that she should be given
her freedom so that she may come home and attend to her
two little children here who have not seen their mother
since she was sentenced to prison. Little else is known except that she married a HOENIG and later lived and died in Dallas, Dallas Co., TX. Their daughter was named Bertha May, who married Eddie Wray Worden. He was born in North Carolina, but resided in Tennessee as well as Arkansas.
They were married to the same man. G B McElvain marrie Mattie Buffalo in Henry Co, AL 18 Dec 1887. She died sometime between Graves' birth in 1890 and abt 1896, approximately when Gary married Annie. Gary (G B) was with his 2nd wife Annie in the 1900 census in Geneva Co AL. In 1920 in Geneva County, Anne was the head of household and Graves H. is still living there. He is listed as Stepson. All the other children are Annie and G B's. It appears only Graves was born to Mattie.

My family lives in Dothan, Ala. My Grandmother was born Ruby McElvain, born to Gary and Annie McElvain in Orangeburg, SC. Annie McElvain's parents were Mary and William Peel. I think Mary Peel died in Geneva,Ala. All the McElvain's family history from when Gary McElvain landed in Charleston, SC on a ship from Ireland is recorded in our family bible in Dothan, Ala. Not sure if this is the Mary you are looking for since her name was Peel and her daughter's name was McElvain, but they both died in Geneva, Ala. Hope this helps, Kathy Revill, Charleston, SC

I write in the hope that someone knows something about a Buffalo/e/w family that resided in or near Knox County TN in the late 19th century.

I have a dim recollection from an earlier census discovery (and danged if I can find it now) that one of these fellows was a doctor, and that he had a sister named “Lena,” (Evalina?)who married a collateral ancestor of mine, Barclay Joshua Jones, also a doctor. Barclay Joshua was born around 1870, so I figure Lena was born at about that time or later. They were married only a short while and I don’t know whether the marriage dissolved through death or divorce. He had a poor track record in marriage, having already married/divorced once, and what with following up with a third sometime after his marriage to Lena. I’m curious about him, though, so I’m curious about the Buffalow family. For some reason, the Samuel Ransom Buffalow rings a bell, so I suspect a connection.

Do you have any children for Isaac Sr.? I am looking for the parents of Patsy Buffalow(Martha). I know that there is a Isaac living in Knox Co., Tn. in 1830, & Patsy married Benjamin Powell in 1838. Isaac is the only Buffalow living in the Knox Co. area
