This is a brickwall for me. Nancy (nee Buffalo) Davis b. June 6 1813, d. Jan 27 1872 and buried at MT GILEAD Cemetery in Union Co., MS, just SE of the town of New Albany. Her husband was John Davis b. Oct 22 1814 d. Aug 20 1900 and is buried at MT GILEAD Cemetery also. Next to them is a gravestone that reads "Vandellor Elizabeth Daughter Of J A & N A Davis, Born Apr 6 1867, Died Oct 23 1868". Which gives the inital 'A' as the middle inital for both John and Nancy. Known children were Thomas, Rufus, William, James and Julia. Both William and Julia married into the Reid family. Thomas Calhoun Davis married Matilda Eliphalet Bridges. I have been unable to trace this line past John and Nancy, my gg-grandparents. All I have to go on is that they MAY have been from SC and that Nancy was of the Cherokee Nation.
