Note: Nancy Ellen Buffin married George W. Thacker in Grant county, Kentucky on October 23, 1883. This was her second marriage and I assume that this indicates that her first husband had surname of "Buffin".
1. No other Nancy Ellen Buffin in the entire 1880 Morman census database and all associated spellings in Kentucky or any other state.
2. That this Nancy Ellen Buffin is the same individual as Nancy Ellen Spurr.
3. I assume that Nancy married "Buffin" between June 1880 and the spring of 1883.
4. Nannie Purvis of Bath county, Kentucky in 1880 census seems to be Nancy Ellen Spurr.
5. All Buffins in Kentucky and United States were checked in the 1880 database and these are the possible candidates to who she might have married.
1. Richard Buffin
In the 1880 census he is a single male, age 24, living and working as a farm hand for Margaret A. Sheets family in Peaks Mill, Franklin county. He is not seen in the 1900 Kentucky and National census index when he would have been around the age of 44.
2. Rich Buffin
age 23, in the 1880 census he was living in Joseph Newman family in Franklin county, Kentucky. Looks to be a child of his wife Melinda's first marriage? He is not seen in the 1900 census.
3. Frank Buffin
A 15 year old farm hand on Joseph Sames Place in Franklin county in the 1880 census. He is not seen in the 1900 census. Unlikely due to his young age.
4. John Buffin
In the 1900 census of Franklin county, KY
John Buffin........... 44
Fannie ...................35
Married 18 ytears, 3 of 5 kids living
1. Augusta B. ............ 1885 ( daughter)
2. Jessie ...................... Feb. 1887 ( son)
3. Rosa ........................1896 ( daughter)
Possible he was married before 1882?
........................
Any Buffin researcher that might have info on the above Buffins that I can use to eliminate them as possible candidates of marrying Nancy Ellen?
