Classification: Query
Surnames: Bugaj, Juris (Jurisz)
I am searching for information on my Grandparents who immigrated to the US in 1907. I have a number of interesting items on my grandmother - but unsure of the documents I found on my grandfather since I am suspucious that his name was changed or misspelled upon arrival to the US. From the manifest at Ellis Island and family info - I know her name was Rozalia Bugaj, born 2-12-1891 (per a deceased family member) and (on census 1920 info says 1882.) She was born in Tyapesso Hungary. Her father was Stefan Bugaj. She went by the name Rose in the US. In the US the family was Roman Catholic. At the age of 17, she traveled with male cousins named Serafin Yuzik (22 years)and Jozsef Letrich (age 25) to visit her brother Mihaly (sp?)Bugaj who lived in Chicago. They arrived in the US at Ellis Island on 12-04-1907. Other relatives in Chicago at the time have the surname of Hurek. I am searching for other family members and for definitive info on my grandfather. On my granfathers naturalization papers his name is listed as Anton Juris. Birth City as Namisto, Arva County, Hungary - 1-3-1884. A manifest from 2-16-1907, I found arrival at Battery Park NY, has the name of Antoni Jurisz born in Mamesto Hungary. He named the relative Tomasz Juriczak as a relative in Chicago.

Any family info or any incorrect info on these documents that you might know the correct spelling is appreciated.
