I am not finding much information on Edward other than his marriage record to Laura and what appears to be a 2nd marriage to someone else. Do you have more information on him such as his parents or where he was born?
There are at least 2 lines of Buker's from Maine, these would be Israel Hilton Buker and Bathsheba Carver Buker's line and then there is another line from the town of Bowdoinham and prior to that they were from Scituate. We have found no connection to date between the two families so I cannot say which line your Edward is from.

Mary or Molly Bowker (Buker) who married David Snell is the daughter of Luke Bowker and Joanna Dunbar. This line goes back to James Bowker and Mary of Scituate, Massachusetts. I have not done research on Israel Buker so only have a possible father as Decatur Bowker. I do not know of a relationship between Mary Bowker and Israel H. Bowker.

This makes me wonder if Molly was a sister or cousin to Israel, his surname was also spelled Bowcker in his pension and marriage record and he was born in Bridgewater.
Is there any mention of Molly's parents? My husband is descended from Israel through his son Alpha and Alpha's son Israel. Even though the Coshocotn history states he was born in Maine, it is incorrect for several points. According to Israel's pension his rank was private. I personally contacted the Smithsonian to inquire about the sword and they were not aware of it and had no record of it as a display item, there is no other documention that mentions it other than hearsay as far as I have been able to determine.
I discovered today that Alpha was the Whig Central Committee Delegate for the Whig County Convention in Muskingum County in 1849. This is the first mention I have located regarding the Buker's political views. Attached is the portion of the article that mentions him.

Regarding Mary Buker or Bowker and David Snell. The Revolutionar War Pension record for David Snell appears on Http://www.heritagequestonline.com. If you are not able to access it please let me know and I will send you a PDF copy. It is an application also from the widow of David Snell, Mary Snell. There is a document certifying the marriage of David Snell and Molly Buker in East Bridgewater 17 Jul 1783. In the documents David states that he enlisted in 1776 at the age of 16 in Massachusetts. Gives a copy of the marriage in East Bridgewater. States he lived in Bridgewater for a number of years. From thence moved to the Province of Main and lived their 20 years and upward. Moved to the state of Ohio in the County of Muskingum and from thence to Richland County in the town of Congress. Widows application states David died 4 Nov 1845.
Since there is only one David Snell in Maine in 1790, 1800, 1810, and 1820. I think it is probably this David Snell. By 1830 he had moved to Ohio.
I would like to see the tombstone pictures if you could send me a link to your website. I would be interested in any other information on this family. My husband is a descendent of David Bowker or Buker, a brother to Mary Buker.

By the way I have pictures of David and Mary Snell's headstones on my family tree I had a tough time finding them but it was worth it. Did you know they had three deaf children and that there was a deaf school in Ohio close to where they moved in Morrow County. Did something happen to this family in Maine that may have caused their deafness?

Aravesta Benjanetta Baker Buker was her full name I think. There are differnet spellings of her first name, Arletter was one of them.
She was born in 2-1-1840 in Maine. I don't know who her parents were or her race. She married William Soule Buker in 1889, but I'm not sure about that date. Their child was Eva Buker. I do have a picture of Aravesta. Does anyone know ANY thing about her or her husband?

http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/14596989/person/342553979?pg=

Please help me. Thank you.
Naomi Farrar

My mother divorced Carroll's son Harold years ago and the family doesn't talk to us much anymore. I can check with some of the cousins I do still speak to though. Who are Vernon's parents? Is the Harold that married Connie the twin of Carroll? Or is he possibly the child of one of Harold and Carroll's siblings. I was always told Carroll's twin never had children, but they could have been wrong. Do you know the Buker family nationalities? My father always claimed that his mother, Christine Ferris, was Irish and Native American and that Carroll Buker was German or French and Native American.

Which Harold and Carroll are your uncles? The twins? I believe the house you remember is now Carroll Jr.'s in Derby, CT. It was by railroad tracks and all the guys would work on the cars in the yard. You would probably be my father's cousin. Carroll married a Christine who's maiden name was Ferris. They are my Grandparents, I'm not sure who the Ferris you're thinking of is. No Carroll I know married a Connie. Maxine is called Mackie and she is very tiny, only about 5' tall at the most.

I am the Granddaughter of Carroll Buker, who had a twin named Harold. Carroll married Christine Ferris and had 9 kids and adopted a relative's child. They lived mostly in CT and ME and some moved up into Canada. Their main house was in Derby, CT. The Children were Carroll Jr., Thelma, Maxine, Ernest, Harold, Chester, Theresa (it may not have an h), Charles, and Jonathan (I'm not sure about the spelling). They adopted another Teresa (I'm not sure on her spelling either). Carroll Jr. is the oldest and Ernest is the youngest. I know that Carroll and Harold were two of either 6 or 8 but I am not sure of their heritage or parents.

Aaron Buker of CT or ME to MD

Hi,

I am trying to track down the ME or CT connection for an Aaron Buker, born about 1813 in CT (per 1860 census) or ME (per 1850 census). He worked as a railroad engineer and married an Eliza Titstone on 6 Sep 1846 in Baltimore. He may have died in Baltimore MD after 1860.

He had a son Thomas Jefferson Buker born 18 Nov 1849 in Baltimore who died 24 Jan 1906 in Clayton, Delaware. Thomas also worked for the railroad.

If anyone has Buker family information that references an Aaron Buker born in this time frame I would greatly appreciate hearing from them. Educated guesses, clues, or hunches also would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Don

Thank you for your response. I believe that Isaac's father was Samuel P. b. 1816 in Maine, and that Samuel P.'s father was Jonah, b. 1796 in Maine.

I haven't been able to determine the name of Isaac's mother, as the only reference to a wife of Samuel P. is to an Abgail, who is 16 years younger than him, so she would be too young to be Isaac's mother. There are younger children (by several years) also listed in the census, so I suspect that this was a second marriage.

I have only begun, within the last year, to delve into genealogy, but am finding it fascinating...like trying to solve a mystery. Thank you again for your reply.

You may be descended from the Bowdoinham Maine Buker's as I don't show your g-grandparents in my Israel Hilton Buker b.1756 d. 1848 file, 1st marriage Sarah Bathsheba Carver, 2nd marriage Sally Black Morrison. Do you know the names of Isaac's parents, he may be a child that isn't recorded in my file?

It is my belief that both clans are related but we haven't found the link yet.

To the best of our knowledge the first Israel Hilton Buker had two wives, (1) Sarah (Sally) Bathsheba Carver and (2) Sarah (Sally) Morrison née Black. The 2nd wife had two children prior to her marriage to Israel and based on pension records she was a LOT younger than he.

Israel's grandson, Israel Hilton Buker also had two wives, (1) Mariah Boal and (2) Zulima Keeler.

There is a genealogical account of Israel I in the John McIntyre Library in Zanesville, Ohio. They will provide a copy for a fee, all that is necessary is that you e-mail them your request and they will let you know the costs involved.

It is not documented!! Many of us have been in the process of acquiring documentation and hopefully all will be willing to share when they find some information.

I myself have several books regarding indexes for Coshocton County and if anyone is interested I will be happy to do look-ups for you.
