Hi John
That's very interesting. There could be a connection but don't know for sure.
I did find out a little more about my Bull family. If I've already sent you this info, I apologize.
Here is what my aunt sent. This is a little more detailed than the earlier message:
"I seem to remember Mama saying that Granny came to America in 1897 at the age of 8 with her father and paternal grandparents .So that would have her being born about 1889, right? Also after they came to America, settled in the Hallettsville area, (Granny's father and grandfather, and later an uncle or two who immigrated shortly after Granny and her father and grandfather,) had a brick kiln and manufactured red bricks which had the name "BULL" stamped on one side of the brick. Mary Nell has one of these bricks. I also think that brickmaking was their occupation while they lived in Isle of Wight. Maybe this info will help in some small way......... "
If this is accurate that they came over in 1897, then we wouldn't have a connection. Perhaps the dates are off a little but don't know how to verify this.
BTW, Mary Nell is also my aunt. She and Carol are my dad's younger sister's. Sadly, they are the only two left now. I wish my dad was around to help me with this. He had become pretty good at surfing the net.
My mom and aunt Carol live 18 miles from Hallettsville. I might be able to find info about the Bulls in the courthouse or even by asking questions in any of the old shops. My mom told me that dad always mentioned being related to a bullrider from the area whose last name was Bull.
Let me know if any of this sounds familiar. If I find out more, I'll let you know.
Thanks so much.
