I had a look in the UK 1881 census for you, but it looks as if she wasn't born then. John Bull is difficult to investigate without some clues to narrow down the search to a birth date or birth place. There are 625 of them in the 1881 census! Do you have any clues as to which part of the UK he came from, wife's name, occupation etc?
