Hi,
I'm not sure if you're still looking as your post was a good few years ago but I have found my ancestors are from Yelling, Cambs. The furthest back I have found is Elizabeth Bull 1766 (married into the Bull family) and had the following children; John 1796, Alice 1793, Huird 1806 and Mary 1810. My family is a descendent of Alice. Any help?

Very confused now. Anyway, my Mantells lived in Warwickshire. I have read that the name was originally French and they came over with the Conqueror but another school of thought is that the name is completely English and has no connection with the French Mantells (from the village of Mantell in France). There are at least two other groups of Mantell in England, in the South, especially Kent, which may be of French origin. There are also Mantells in Germany. I have only got mine back to around 1500. In the 1800s a Mrs. Mantell set up a charity in Warwickshire.
I do not know of any Mantells who went to America, I fear, but I have only followed the family down to around 1700 after my 9x g/grandmother married into the family.
Sorry I cannot be of more help.
Regards

I am looking for more information about Ann or Nancy Marks. I estimate her birth year to be between 1766-1770.
She married Isaac Marks 21 Oct 1791 Shenandoah Co, VA.
Isaac died in Washington County, Kentucky 1798. I think that Nancy went on to marry Abraham Weekly in Nelson Co, KY, and Nancy is on the 1830 and 1840 Census for Nelson Co KY but not the 1850. So she very well may have died in Nelson Co KY between 1840-1850.

Her children:
Betsy, Polly, Susannah, Isaac Marks. Other children may have been Samuel and William Elze Weekly.

Hi there -

My family tree revolves around Cheddar and Draycott in Somerset, and has done since early 1700's.

Both Samuel and Mary appear in the tree at the dates you mention.

My family still live in Draycott (2 miles from Cheddar).

I believe my dad (Dave Bull) has spoken to you recently with regards to looking if our family tree's are related. Did you manage to discover anything interesting?

Kind regards,
James

David, after looking into possible parents for the subject Sarah Jane Bull, wife of your Chaney ancestor, I no longer think that she's a descendant of my John Bull Sr. My notes in my database page for Sarah, linked below, explain why:

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

You'll see that she's more likely be a descendant of the MD native Jacob Bull & wife Sarah Vincent. I hope I've given you enough clues to help you get over your brick wall...............Kent

They were born to Samuel & Sarah Dale in Derbyshire England. I believe she married Lee or Leo McCue in the Chicago, IL area. I live in the Rochester, NY area and would like information about Winifred's descendents. My Dad died when I was only 10 so I have lost that side of my family history. I would appreciate any information you could supply. Thank you very much.

Hi, I just came across this post. I am looking for info on my gr.gr. grandmother Mary Ann Bull. According to census records she was born about 1808 in Fenstanton, but I haven't been able to find out anything else about her parents or siblings. She married David Preston in 1833 in Chesterton, Cambridgeshire and lived out the rest of her life in Manea, Cambridgeshire. Hoping this may sound familiar to someone out there! If so, please reply. Thanks.

Hello:

I never heard from you and never followed up because, like the everyone, other things came up. Today I was poking on the on-line 1881 Canadian census web site and while I could find Melissa E. Clement (nee Bull), I couldn't find either John G. Bull or his wife, Rachel. I also looked at the 1871 census and couldn't find them. I was wondering if you had any further information that might help me.

Cheers.

How does the marriage info that Henry's parent's were Abraham and Abigail jibe with the info. that Melissa's and Henry's father was John Guernsey Bull. According to the info that I found that suggested that John G.s parents were Abraham and Abigail (which may just be supposition), Abraham was born in Dutchess County, N.Y. What is your source that Abraham, father of John G. was born in England in 1760?

Thanks for the info. re the Knapp family.

The parents of Rachel Knapp were Amos Knapp (b.1776 in New York/d.1853) & Rachel Van Camp (b.1780 in New York/d.1851)Both are buried in the Maynard Cemetery near Prescott.

The parents of John Guernsey Bull were Abraham Bull born in England 1760. Wife was know only as Ms. Guernsey. I cannot verify Abraham's info and am unable to trace him to any ships list. He came from the Channel Islands apparently.
I just looked through more of my records and found Abraham Bull & Abigail Bull as parents of Henry Bull
ONTARIO, CANADA, MARRIAGES 1857-1922

Birth year of Henry Bull 1814 is incorrect. He was born in 1811 and died SEPT 4,1862 AGED 51YS 2MO 25DS (as written on his tombstone in Kemptville).
HEY!I just realised that his wife Catherine Magee is the same as "Harriet" as listed in the other Census records I have. Ahhh, that's one more piece of the puzzle solved. Makes sense to me now.

If you find anything more on Abraham or Abigail I hope you will let me know. Thanks. In the meantime I will keep looking.
You see there was Benjamin (b1799) John G. (b1809) and Henry (b1810) that were the THREE OFFSPRING of Abraham.

Just to make things interesting Benjamin & Polly had offspring named Abraham and Benjamin.
Also, John G. & Rachel had offspring named Henry & Harriet. Not to be confused with the Harriet (aka Catherine) who was Henry's wife.
In other words, Henry's uncle was Henry. And Benjamin's father was Benjamin. And Abraham's grandfather was Abraham.

...too much repetition of the same first-names!

My father aparently spotted Abraham (b1760) in the Census of the Thirteen Colonies - 1785. He was 25 and living in Albany as a Methodist minister and a bachelor.

If you could verify info that would be great. I may be making a trip or getting in touch with people in Albany New York if time allows me to do so.

Eric

So sorry it has been so long. I think the census year was one of the first done in Canada. 1851?
I must dig out the geneology bin and start to complete the Bull lineage on my side. I will most likely be the last of my line since my father was an only child. He passed on just before Christmas. I have no kids and my only sibling has a son who is autistic.
