Andrew Jackson Bulla, farmer and stock raiser, section 17. He was born in Randolph County, North Carolina, June 6, 1816. He is a son of John and Margaret (Rouse) Bulla, both natives of North Carolina. When eighteen years of age, Andrew went to Virginia, locating in Wythe County, where he lived four years, and then moved to Tazewell County, of the same state. He was reared on a farm, and upon going to Virginia he learned the carpenter's trade, which he followed till 1854. He then came to Gentry County, Missouri, where he has since been occupied in farming, his landed estate consisting of 600 acres. Mr. Bulla was married Jan. 5, 1843, to Miss Elizabeth Witten, who was born in Tazewell County, Virginia, Mar. 4, 1822. Her father, Hiram Witten, was a native of Virginia, and her mother, whose maiden name was Jane Lard, of Maryland. The family of Mr. B. consists of nine children, six of whom are living: Emily A., John F., James H., William H., Charles D., and Andrew J.
