Dear Marjorie and Liz:

Thanks so much for your excellent hints. I really didn''t think "Fritz" was my ggrandfather's given name, but that was the name listed on the birth certificate for my grandmother, and I did check out the name Frederick as well. The middle name hint was a revelation to me; I had no idea about that, so I will try looking for him again under other names and Friedrich.

I did try the FamilySearch .org site before with the "old" info, but will revisit it. I also have access to a local LDS library and may have more success with that. I'll also check out the Baltimore suggestion.

For what it's worth, I did get a death certificate from New York on a Frederick Bullinger who died about that time frame (1892), but I don't think it's him. It didn't have the name of his wife on it, which would have helped me verify one way or the other, but it did list his parents as Madros Bullinger and Annie. The birthplace was listed as Prussia.

You're both very kind to help. I appreciate it and will keep you posted on any successes I may have.
