Is anyone researching the Johnstown, Cambria, PA Bullinger family?

Anastasia (Anna) Bullinger married Joseph Euen in 1889 - she was born May 1872

Joseph Bullinger b. 7 Feb 1874 - married Josepina Aust and Julia. Joseph's children were: Joseph; John; Martin; Otman; Arnold. I believe he emigrated in 1890 ship Elbe. Served in the Spanish American War

Lorenz Bullinger b. 1880 died 1904 (about age 16).

I'm guessing that Anastasia, Joseph and Lorenz were sibs.

Any help appreciated.
Bullinger family

Dear Marjorie and Liz:

Thanks so much for your excellent hints. I really didn''t think "Fritz" was my ggrandfather's given name, but that was the name listed on the birth certificate for my grandmother, and I did check out the name Frederick as well. The middle name hint was a revelation to me; I had no idea about that, so I will try looking for him again under other names and Friedrich.

I did try the FamilySearch .org site before with the "old" info, but will revisit it. I also have access to a local LDS library and may have more success with that. I'll also check out the Baltimore suggestion.

For what it's worth, I did get a death certificate from New York on a Frederick Bullinger who died about that time frame (1892), but I don't think it's him. It didn't have the name of his wife on it, which would have helped me verify one way or the other, but it did list his parents as Madros Bullinger and Annie. The birthplace was listed as Prussia.

You're both very kind to help. I appreciate it and will keep you posted on any successes I may have.
The name Fritz Bullinger does not ring a bell in regards to this line BUT there are a number of Bullingers on the east coast which I have found in my searching. When I did locate my grandfather and his parents they did not come through Ellis Island but through Baltimore, MD. One site that can be a help is Cindi"s list and it has other ports of entry. It also has other very helpful site info. I know only too well what it is like to hit a brick wall when hunting info. Good luck.

My ggrandfather is named on my grandmother's New York birth certificate as Fritz Bullinger, born in Germany. My grandmother was born in 1887, which, going by his age at the time, would have made her father's birthdate 1862.

Fritz's wife and my ggrandmother was Kundigunda Fadenhauer. They had four daughters.

Which one of them was from Baden--if not both--is unknown. It's also possible he was from Berlin.

He died in his early 30s.

I can hardly find anything in New York records on him. A death certificate I obtained may or may not be him.

I'm stuck.

Fritz Bullinger 1862-1891 Germ>NY>NJ

My grandmother's NYC birth certificate lists her father as Fritz Bullinger, born in Germany in 1862. Her mother was Kunikunda Fadenhauer, born in Germany in 1860. His occupation was listed as laundry man. They had four daughters: Tressa, born 1883; Lena, born 1885; Julia, my grandmother, 1887; Rosa, born 1889. He died in NY or NJ about 1891, and she bought a farm in what is now New Milford, New Jersey. She remarried his friend, Ignatz Kunzelman or Gunzelman. I don't know where in Germany he was from, but my mother believed it could have been Berlin or Baden-Baden. I don't know if he was married in Germany or the U.S., or even where he is buried. Any suggestions?

Bullingers from Germany

From the German Immigrant books, Vol 38, I found what appears to be my gg-grandfather Henry(Henrich)Bullinger. He was on the ship Palmyra, which left the port of Liverpool/Queensland, and arrived at NY May 12, 1881. I do have a marriage certificate(1882), but the "place of birth" is difficult to read, but here goes: Sim...sheim Konigr? Wurtin...? This could be Wurttemberg which is Southern Germany). His wife, Bertha Krueger, was born in Roggo?v, Ru?fs?? Henrich's father was a Conrad Bullinger(wife: Christiane Kraft). This is as far back as I can take it and the only info I have. Now, I did find a death certificate for a Henry Bollinger(with an "o") in my area(Near Chicago),but upon checking the document, both parents were born in Switzerland and the father's name was Jacob. It wouldn't surprise me if the "Bollinger" line is related to the "Bullinger" line with a spelling change along the way.

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the response and good information on Bullinger from England and Switzerland. The one thing about genealogy is that you certainly learn some history. There is always a reason why people migrate. It could be religion, politics(as you said), or the eldest son getting the farm(as in Germany), a potato famine(Ireland), or just for the adventure of it.I've read about Heinrich Bullinger, the reformer.
If you find a link to Conrad Bullinger, my ggg-grandfather, let me know, thanks. He would have been born in the 1830-40s.
I will keep you informed as well of any of my findings. Age here is 48 and live near Chicago.
There is a fellow AOL member Gerhard Bullinger who lives in Germany, but I have not received any responses from him yet. I found his web page while searching AOL.
Chow.
I have the St. Anthony Book 100 years of faith. Lists a Johannes Adam Bullinger who was borin in 1847. He died in 1908. His first wife was Marianna Hammel. Marianna died, then Johannes Adam married Clara Ressler in Karlsruhe Russia in 1873. Tehy emigrated to the US May 12, 1893 on the ship S.S. Lahm. They first settled in yakton, SD for a short time, and then moved to the St. Anthony Area. The book lists 13 children. Some may not be listed if they died as infants?

I'm wondering if this is the same John Bullinger you have listed here? The one above is my great grandfather, and am trying to trace the Bullinger ancestry.

Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

Bethany,

I have much information concerning the Bullinger graves in the Burgan cemetery. You are correct about William being in the Civil War. I have his complete military record. There is also a War of 1812 soldier in one of the graves. I just finished writing my family history and I am related to the Burgans on the maternal side. I would be happy to share with you some of this information. Please e-mail me and let me know how I can get in touch with you to show you what I have.
Bullingers from Germany

Dear Gary:

It was interesting to see the information on your relative Henry (Heinrich)Bullinger. My gg grandfather was also Henry Bullinger. My Henry also came to this country from Liverpool! The naturalization record that I found on him indicates that he was borm in London but he emigrated to the U.S. from Liverpool. He became a citizen in New York 1827. I have been in the process of trying to find out where he came from in Germany or Switzerland. To date I have had no success. My research would indicate that he likely came to England to avoid persecution by the French. London was apparently a haven for refugees from all over Europe at that time.

I did find some information on the Bullingers and Bollingers in Switzerland. The family of Bollingers came from the town of Boligen that is near the capital of Berne. There is a Bullinger family line that came from the town of Bremerhaven that is near Zurich. This family goes back to the 1400's. There was a Heinrich Bullinger there who was a reformer at the time of the Reformation. I would think that if we were ever able to find all the records that there is probably some connection with all the Bullingers. The name Henry appears several times in my line.

I will let you know of I turn up any information that may be of interest to you.

Bullinger family England, Germany Switzerland

I am looking for information from anybody who has traced the European origin of the Bullinger family.

I can document my g g g grandfather being married in London in the late 1700's. I am sure that they came to England probably from Germany and Switzerland. As of this time I am unable to go beyond England to Germany. All of the various postings I read on the Bullinger's show a German origin.

I was told that if our family is traced back far enough a Swiss connection could be found. I am aware of the town of Bremgarten just outside of Zurich where there. were nemerous Bullinger's in the 1400's.

I would like any information from anybody who has information on the earliest origin of the Bullinger family. I would also be very interested in anybody with the English/German/Swiss connections that I am faced with.

Sincerely,

Thomas J. Bullinger

My Bullinger Family History

My maternal grandmother was Anna Elizabeth (Bullinger) Whitaker. She had said that her great grandfather was born in Germany and came from a noble family with the name Von Bullinger. He did not want to serve in the Army, (they automatically went into the Army at age 18) and he married a girl beneath his station, so he and his bride emigrated to the United States. He dropped the "Von" which, in Germany denoted a noble, and was just plain "Bullinger" in this country. This is what I do have witten down....Heinrich Bullinger married Elizabeth Jost, I have no dates.Their children were: Henry, Otto, Louis, Agnes, Anna and Lena. All I know about Henry is that he married Margaret Brehm, and they had 5 children, Henry Robert, Elizabeth, Mabel( who married Richard Healy and had a daughter named Jean), John and Helen. Otto is who i'm related to. Otto married twice. He first married Sophia Girtzler, they had two children, Anna Elizabeth and Caroline Mary. Anna Elizabeth is my maternal grandmother. Are ya with me so far?? I do have another Henry in this book. Otto's 2nd marraige was to Barbara Goetz, they had 5 children, Otto Jr., Marion, Rose, Henry and Andrew. Henry married Katherine Zehner, they had 3 children, Robert, Gerald and Leonard. Robert married Mary Tierney and had 4 children, Catherine, Marie, Roberta and James. Then Robert had a 2nd marriage to Catherine Miller and had 3 children, Robert, Timmothy and Dawn. Henry's 2nd son, Gerald married Dorothy Briggs and had 5 children, Gerald, Gayle, Ronald, Tracy and Paul. Henry's 3rd son, Leonard, married Constance Gibson.
Hopefully this info might help some of you, there is other info in here on Andrew's marriages, Marion's marriage, and Caroline Mary Bullinger's marriage.

I know very little about my Charles Bullinger
only from a death cert. of my great-grandmother
Elinor M. Bullinger Soden. Here's what I have:
On 27 Feb 1896, Charles J. Soden married Ellinor M.
Bullinger, b. 14 February 1874, (daughter of Charles Bullinger
and Armintha Von Sligerland of Brooklyn, Kings County,
New York) at All Saint's Rectory Episcopal Church, Lower East Side,
Manhattan, NY. The church, which still stands as St. Augustine's Church, was built in
1828 when the lower East Side was home to Irish immigrants and African American migrants from the South. Although now a home to a largely African American population, the church was originally built for white congregants, many of whom were rowed across the East River by their slaves.
By 1900, Charles, who is an insurance agent, his wife Ellinor (who goes by Madel E. in the census), and daughter Alberta N. Soden (b. May 1898,) live at 13 Cornell Place in Port Richmond, Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York. Samuel B. Soden, age 71, is also residing with the household.
Ellinor and Charles separated by the 1920's and may have been divorced. In the 1930's, Charles may have been living in Los Angeles, California. He visited his daughters once in Oregon, but departed, presumably to California. Ellinor died in Oak Grove, Clackamas County, Oregon on 28 July 1945.
Issue (all born in Port Richmond, Staten Island, Richmond Co. N.Y.)
i. Alberta N. b. May 1898; died about 1985, Portland, Oregon
3. ii. Grace Kessler b. 12 September 1900; died October 1974, Portland,Oregon

I am currently spending most of my time energy on the Soden
side, but hope to get into the Bullinger line
later this summer.

On Ancestry I find a Charles in Kings County from
1850-1870 and, perhaps your Charles shows in NYC
in 1820-1830. I see you've checked directories,
how about the actual Census' for those years ?

Please stay in touch, you can email directly at
kdor@prodigy.net if you like!

Jacob and Anna Katherina Weber Bullinger

Can someone please tell me how this can be? I have seen it posted that Jacob and Anna Katherina had four daughters. There are multiple entries with this information
Anna Barbara Bullinger b. 1698...my line
Anna Katherina b 1702
Anna Katherina b 1703
Anna Margaretha b 1799

I can understand about the two Anna Katherina and different years. Sometimes one baby would die and the name just given to the next child or its the same child and the birthdate is incorrect, but for the life of me I can't understand how two sisters can be born 101 years a part. This information has been posted time and time again. Doesn't anyone read what they write?

My maiden name was Bulliner and my father was from southern Illinois, I have traced them back to NC in early 1700's, and also when two brothers Bullinger sailed into Philadelphia again in the early 1700's.
They were from Switzerland. Also have the information where they came from Zurich back to the 1400's. I am missing one piece. From NC some or one of the sons of the Bullingers' went to Tennessee - McNairy county - and some then
went to Illinois. Somewhere along there the spelling was changed to Bulliner. I am looking for the names of males that were living in McNairy County in the early 1800's. There was a fire and all records have been
destroyed. They were not a direct line for us but they thought he very likely was a cousin because of his coloring, etc. Our family came in 1883 and my great-grandfather was Adalbert married to Katharina Schmidt. They settled in Chicago. Just a few years ago I learned that a brother also immigrated at that time but I have no name and so far unable to find anything on immigration records.
Bullinger/Buhlinger in Baden

The Bullinger surname, often spelled Buhlinger or Bühlinger, is found in the records of several villages in the Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden area of Baden, Germany. My immigrant ancestor, Simon Bühlinger, was born in the village of Wintersdorf, near Rastatt, 18 Feb 1817, the son of Franz Josef Bühlinger and Monica Hauns. His grandfather, Sebastian Bühlinger, was born in Baden Oos, where the family can be traced to Jacob Bühlinger, born circa 1687.

Simon came to America before 1845 and settled in Bainbridge Township, Berrien Co., MI, where his children Americanized the name to Bellinger or Bellenger. Two of Simon's brothers, Peter and Johann Paul, also immigrated, but I don't know their destinations.

Bullinger

Charles Owens Bullinger married Ensey Glover in 1813 or 1814 and lived in New York City until 1852. Her husband died in 1832. Her name appears in the New York City directory from 1813 to 1854 where she kept a boarding house in what is now lower New York. She was s devout Baptist.
Some dear sweet relative many years ago traced the family tree but it is sketchy in some areas and difficult to follow in others.
Ensey Glover's mother is Puah (Clark) who was married to
? Smigh and had Violet & Orthniel who were among the founders of Smithtown, L.I.. She became a widow then married Josiah Glover, from this marriage she had, Mary, Ensey (born in Brookhaven, L.I. in 1792) and Josiah. Josiah passed away and she married a man named Hawkins. "The descendants of this marriage are so numerous and properous taht they have formed a corporation to which only the proven descendants of Puah Clark Hawkins are eligible. Puah is burried in Brookhaven. She lived on Long Island all during the Revolutionary War. Her allegiance and services were always on the side of the patriots."
Please let me know where you go with this.
If we are related I bet we could have a wing ding of a family reunion. I have a great Aunt Margie living in Long Beach, California, who is 104.
Thank You
