I have not done much work on the Patrickson line. My ancestor, Letitia Patrickson's parents were William Patrickson (1807-1865) and Mary Pugmire (1807-1865) of Carlisle in Cumberland. I have not been successful in taking the Patrickson line back further.

Hello,
My grandfathers name is Norman Patrickson. His father and mother were John and Gladys Patrickson from Fulham.

I was wondering if you have any information on the Fulham patricksons. I know they came from Ireland and that my grandfather's relation was the owner of J.J patrickson picture Frame Maker in Fulham.

I am not sure how you are related to the Patrickson name?

If you are interested in any information in regards to my grandfathers side I can share this with you.

I will tell you, that when my grandfathers parents moved to Claxton road in fulham, at the time John Patrickson (his father) had a terrible cough, mostly due to smoking 40 cigs a day. He went to see a faith healer on his street and it was said he was healed. They took a keen interest in their faith healer/spiritualist neighbor. Eventually John and Gladys became spiritualists, they held seances every Thursday. My grandfather just told me he still has the accounts of all the sittings and the names of the people who attended, including the events that occurred. Apparently they used a white tray to reflect the spirit's face & a trumpet, so the voice of the spirit came through the speaker. It is all very intense. But my grandfather witnessed all of this. If you was to meet him, you would know he is very down to earth, not the type to make up stories. In fact he doesn't like to talk about it too often, as he knows how it all sounds. He told me that he was a skeptic when he was a boy, until one day he had to sit in as a replacement.
There are some other interesting stories, that I can share with you. But I don't want to go on in case you are not so interested in our side of the Patrickson's.

ps; My grandfather is 84, I am trying to obtain as much information for him about his family, so he can share in the knowledge and help add to it. He is quite amazing, for his age, and remembers things quite well!

All the best
Donna

Robert E Bulmer - born around 1846

I'm trying to find the parents of Robert E Bulmer, reportedly born in Maine around 1846. He was my greatgrandfather and was a mariner. He married Lydia Rupp in Philadelphia, PA in 1869 and is in the 1870 census in Philadelphia. He was lost at sea somewhere between 1870 & 1880, leaving a widow and daughter.

I have not been able to find any information on my Robert. I thought he was connected to the Bulmer's in Perry Maine, but I can't find a connection.

If anyone has any information/suggestions, please contact me.

Thanks!

If these are the same Bulmers I'm researching, I don't believe they left the area. William and Sarah's children stayed in the Somerville, Victoria area for the most part. I think I found Sarah's parents - Adolphus & Rosina Levely. Levely is sometimes spelled with 2 l's and sometimes with 1. I've even seen it (mis)spelled Lively. I am trying to find William's parents now, but no luck. Please let me know if you find any more info. Much appreciated.

Hello,

I am a great great grand-daughter of William Bulmer & Sarah Ann Levelly Bulmer. Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question, but their son, John married Ellen Wood who are my great grand-parents and I am trying to track the Bulmer family's history. I haven't been able to go further back than William. The birthday I have for William (Sarah's husband) is 13 June 1849, and Sarah Ann's last name is spelled with 2 ll's in my records, but otherwise I think we might be looking for the same person.

Thank you for replying. I've already tried both of the methods of research you mentioned, but am still at a loss.

This could be very tricky as Sgt. John Bulmer of Co B. 34th U.S.C.T. was apparently formerly a slave. I am not sure if his surname was that of his father, who was apparently white, or whether he may have adopted it later. Hence, I am not sure where this Bulmer family may have been prior to the connection in Florida.

A news article mentioning a letter John sent while he was serving his country, to another brother, who was in California in 1865, revealed that the unknown brother I am seeking had given his life whilst serving during the war.

From looking at John Bulmer's service record on Fold3 (formerly Footnote) I see that he was on furlough commencing Feb. 8, 1864 and returned to duty on March 28 after being unavoidably detained after the expiration of his furlough. Since these dates predate the letter to his brother in California, I'm leaning toward thinking that the brother who was killed in action, might possibly have been the cause of John's furlough.

John Bulmer was also in California prior to going back east to serve (the brother who died serving may also have been in California prior to enlisting). Unfortunately, the 1860 census, where the Bulmer's were, typically only gave initials in place of first names, hence my not having the foggiest notion of the brother's first name.

The only suitable man found in Calif. records, who was most likely the recipient of the letter was Isaac Bulmer.

It just seemed somewhat uncanny that your, Edwin Bulmer, died whilst serving in the Civil War in March, the same month that John Bulmer was unavoidably delayed, the only difference being the year of death. Weird, is it not?

I would first research census records to, hopefully, discover the brothers name. More than likely, they either enlisted together or close to the same time and/or location. After you get a name, you can also research on the Civil War Soldier & Sailors System @: http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/

The Bulmer I am researching is my great-great grandfather. He came to the US from Yorkshire, England.
Where did your Bulmer's come from before they settled in Florida?

Sarah Bulmer Amos

I am looking for info on my 2 great grandfather, Robert E. Bulmer. He has been a brick wall for many years. He married Lydia Rupp/Roop/Rupe in 1869 in Philadelphia. The 1870 census shows him as being from Maine, where many Bulmers were, but I have found NO Robert. He was a seaman and reportedly lost at sea sometime between 1870 and 1880 when Lydia is enumerated in the Delaware census as a widow. They had one child, Mary A Bulmer, my great grandmother.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am also in search of an individual surnamed Bulmer who was killed during the Civil War, except the soldier I am seeking died sometime prior to Jan. 1865. All I know about him is that he was the brother of Sgt. John Bulmer who served with Co. B 34th U.S.C.T.

John was born in St. Augustine, Florida and died in Jacksonville, Duval Co., Florida, where he is also buried.

Any tips to help find out something about John Bulmer's brother would be appreciated.

I am the daughter of Bill Smith - your Grandmother's brother. My brother Billy visited Ireland last month and had a drink with Teddy - I haven't seen your Dad since he was a small boy - but you must be very proud of him as we have heard of his accomplishments - smart family you are from!
I can't help you, but in order for anyone else to do so, more information is needed. These boards are used by people from all over the world. It will be far easier for someone to help if you'll provide some locations, even if they are approximate.

Bulmer/Boomer Nova Scotia to Maine mid 1800s

I'm doing some research for my cousin. Her grandfather was Willard Delano who was born in about 1872 in Maine. His wife was Jessie Boomer (poss. Bulmer) whose family supposedly came down from Nova Scotia. The Delano line seems to have been prolific. The only two children I have fro Willard & Jessie are Edward Chandler Delano and Maude Delano Bubier. Edward moved to NH and I think Maude stayed in Bath, Maine. Any help appreciated. I'm just beginning the search.

Hi. I would love to see the picture if that's possible. Mary E. Marsh is my grandfather's sister. Their mother was Hannah Bulmer dau of Walker Bulmer and Mary Roe. So far my direct Bulmer line comes from England to Canada to Michigan. I have no pictures or histories to compare to, but maybe my mother would know. She kept in contact with some of the family in Battlecreek.
Thanks

Picture of Bulmers

I have a picture that is labeled "The Bulmers". I have not found where any Bulmers tie into my line as of yet. This picture is not a studio picture.... It was taken evidently at their farm. They are holding animals on rope. I love the picture, I just wish I knew who they were.

Short version of a LONG story, but I have a trunk that was recently discovered that was my Great Grandparents (George Archibald Barry and Daisy Lewis). It had thousands of old letters (dated back to 1888), old pictures (back to 1860s) and old journals to 1891. My Great Grandparents lived in the Marengo, Calhoun County, MI area from the 1860's for my him and from the early 1900's for her. She was initally from Marcellus, Cass County, MI. We still had some relatives in the Dayton area, in NY. I have found pictures of other relatives from misc areas so not guaranteed to need to be in one of these areas. I also have some that were just friends, so I'm just unsure.

Not having a first name or really for sure when this was taken, I don't know how to start in the census. Please let me know if you would like to see the picture!

I have a picture labeled "The Bulmers". I truly have no idea how they fit in anywhere. I love the picture. Much of my family lived in the Calhoun County, MI as well as Cass County, MI. I had some in the Dayton area in NY also. A few were scattered other various places, but the trunk this was "recently" found in was from someone who lived in Marengo, Calhoun County, MI. I didn't have much luck in the census not having a first name nor really do I know when it was taken. Finally dawned on me to come here and see if I could find any Bulmer researchers. Please let me know if you want to view the picture.
