I am interested in learning about the Bumpers you have listed. My great grandfather from Winn, Alabama listed Irene Bumpers as his mother and that's all the information I have to date.

I am a decendent of Rena Bumpers that lived in (Winn) Grove Hill, AL. I attended the Bumpers Family Reunion in the year of 2001. I also have relatives in Washington County in AL. Rena Bumpers had children: George Bumpers of Frankville, AL; Amos Bumpers of Winn; Sally Bumpers of Grove Hill, AL; Julie Bumpers of Grove Hill, AL (Zimco Road) and Irene Bumpers of Winn.

Hello Tiffany,
You are right. There are a lot of Claude Bumpers in Alabama. I actually found another Claude Bumpers my same age that lives in Mobile who works for Mobile College, I think. He did not know my father and said that his father did not know mine. I'm sure we're related. There are a lot of African American Bumpers' in Alabama. I'm trying to see how far back we can trace them. I did find out that my great grandmother's name was Alma Bumpers. There is a Bumpers Family Reunion that takes place in Wagerville I believe and they say that family is from Rena Bumpers who came from North Carolina. Not much before her do they know. All they know is that she had children in Alabama and of course there is no father of the children mentioned. You could only imagine why that is the case knowing the history of America. After a prolonged illness from catarrhal fever Albert Bumpers departed this life on Thursday, January 30. The Landmark extends sympathy to his bereaved relatives.

Hello. I was reading this post and wanted to know if Claude Bumpers and my grandfather, Ben O'Neal Bumpers were related. I understand that Winn,AL is where he(Ben)was from. I am originally from Prichard,AL and my father is Kossuth Bumpers. I have family in Mobile,Grove Hill,Lower Peachtree, and Packards Bend, Alabama. I am also trying to trace the origin of the Bumpers family name.

Hi,
I'm researching my wife's family. Her name is Susan M. Bumpers Oswalt. Sue is from Selma, Alabama. I have traced the Bumpers to Clarke Co and know several fought in the civil war with the 6th, 24th and 32 Alabama Infantry. We're trying to trace her family to one of these Bumpers. Sue's father is Thomas James Bumpers of Selma. His father is Earl Ralph Bumpers Nickname (Happy); Earl was born about 1897 to Howard and Annie Hamilon Bumpers. This is where we loss the family. We do not know his (Howard's) father or mother.

I do know how Nathaniel J. and Delaney D. Bumpers of Company E 24th Alabama Infantry. Both men died at Camp Chase, Ohio as POWs.

I would like to share information about what is becoming a wonderful subject for me. I am sorry I do not have a web site, but would like to correspond with you.
