Can anybody expand what I know of the death of Richard Bunting who was an Apprentice on his father's fishing smack Adventure and was drowned with six other fishermen when it was hit by the SS Woodstock off Flamborough, Yorkshire in August 1881. Was John Bunting, the ships Master and co-owner, the same John Bunting who was married to Mary Short and had lived in Grimsby? Could this be the reason a number of John and Mary's daughters started to use the surname Short?
