Johnson County News, Thursday, Jan. 31, 1946, page 3. DEATHS.

Funeral services for JOHN F. MORGAN, 72 year-old farmer of Butler, Route 2, were held last Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Meadowview Baptist Church in charge of Rev. Roby Stout, assisted by Rev. Russell Potter and Rev,. Victor Trivett. Interment was in Buntontown cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, four daughters and three sons.

(Note: John F. Morgan married Nancy Naomi BUNTON at Johnson Co. TN on 25 Dec 1896...ref.:Marriages of Johnson Co. Tenn 1881-1905 by Georgia Marie Johnson. This family is listed in Johnson Co. TN in Dist. 10. jstout)

I am also searching for info on John Finley Morgan. I am a granddaughter to June E. Morgan (d. 1964), married name Dugger . I have found info that indicates he was born in 1873 and died in 1946 but have not been able to verify this. Do you have any additional information? Thanks

I find that odd. Growing up, my grandfather, Lawrence Turner Bunton Sr. of South Carolina and then Savannah, GA used to say he was related to LBJ through a commom grandmother. I know this is quite an old post, but I was wondering if you found any info regarding the original owner's of the sword. I am a descendant of an Andrew Bunton, son of William Bunting. William is the earliest record I can find of Bunting/bunton/bunten being in the colonies. He was in VA in the mid-1600's. If you have any info it would be much appreciated.

My Annie was the daughter of John Philmore Bunton and Margaret Carthan Hathcock.

Looking for information on parents and/or siblings of Samuel Felix Bunton, b. May 15, 1849 in Ky.?, d. Jan. 11, 1915, m. Sarah Emaline Allen. They had 11 children, one of whom, Alice Albertine Bunton, married Henry Watterson McMurry. Another, Thomas Lewis Bunton, married Annie Belle McMurry. Would also like to know if Louise Bunton (b. Oct. 8, 1911, d. 2004), whose father was Claude Bunton, and who married Henry Gilbert McMurry, was related to Samuel Felix Bunton.

I am looking for information on a Bitha E. Bunton. Surname could also be spelled Buntin or listed as White. My great grandfather William Solomon White (Buntin) had 2 sisters, Mary Jane and Bitha E. (b. 5/15/1866 in TN) Their parents are Nancy Buntin and Elisha White. Elisha could be their step father but Mary Jane and William used the White surname. I found a Bitha E. married 1898/1899 to Silas A. Clark. Note: I have a copy of a land deed stating S. A. Clark's wife, Bitha E. Clark was formerly Bitha E. Bunton. They lived in Johnson Co., Tennessee at least from 1900 - 1930 according to census records. There are 3 children listed in the 1900 census records that I believe are Bitha's - I do not know who their father is. The names of the children are: William A. b. Aug 1887, Bessie P. b. Jan 1890 and Ossie V. b. Mar 1892 per 1900 census. I believe Ossie V. married Dan Wilborn Greenwell. I have been doing some research and believe that James M. Bunton was married to Mary C "Katie" Hart in 1873 and were the parents of William B Bunton. William married Josephine Jeanette Harris and moved to Washington, D. C. soon after he was discharged after the Spanish American War. He found a job for his father and moved his parents to Washington, D. C. James M died 4 May 1911. Due to Josie's health, William and Josie moved to New Mexico where they are both buried in the Magdalena, NM cemetery. Katie lived with Billy and Josie in New Mexico and returned to Indiana just prior to her death in 1936. She is buried near James.

She was born abt. 1871 in Missouri believe she died in Sparta, Michigan area. (My mother remembers meeting her in Sparta, Michigan)
Charlotte was know as (Emma and/or Emmy) and had the nick name of Tiny.
The children:
Veler (Bunton) Dillinger b April 4, 1907 in Arkansas
d Sept. 13 1994 in Junction City, Arkansas
She is buried in Dowell's cemetery in Tuckerman, Ark.
m William Dillinger b 1898 in New York
There is a Sam Bunton buried there also.
Believe this is her father.

Lottie b abt. 1902 may have married a John Goodman
Ida b abt. 1904

I have a "Mary Bunton" born in Kentucky who married a "Jesse Owen" who was born in Indiana. Their son, "Henry Owen," b. 27 Jan 1863 in KY, married Emma Lee Smith(b. 15 Aug 1864, KY) on 16 Jan 1889. Henry died in Crittenden County, KY on 20 Dec 1928, and the only proof of his parentage is the listing of his father's name and birthplace and his mother's maiden name and birthplace, on the death certificate. I noticed that there is a "Henry Owen" in the household of the physician Charles Owen born in England. There is rumor in the family of Henry Owen's mother being a Mary Owen who had a child out of wedlock, and the father was a young doctor.The story varies, however, between Mary Owen becoming pregnant in England, or in Kentucky. Name of the young doctor varies, too. With so many variations in the story, I doubt it's veracity. Henry's daughter listed his parents' names and birthplaces on his death certificate. I'd like to prove or disprove the rumors. Is there any tie to Henry in your Owen or Bunton lineages?

I've been going through some old pictures. I found a picture of a baby girl on a quilt. The picture is probably 90 years old. On the back is written either Jenny or Annie(can't read too good) Bunton. My family lines that may relate to this picture are: McGee or Magee,Messagee,Garrison,Birch or Burch, and it may have been taken in the Lincoln County, NC area. Anyone have a clue?
