As a postscript, I should add that Elizabeth's mother, Mary Ann Morris, had a second marriage to John H. Morris on 28 Feb 1845. So John Morris became Elizabeth's step-father when she was nine years old. I don't know if he ever actually adopted her, but this explains why Fannie's mother is listed on her death certificate as Elizabeth Morris.
