a late relative told my mother that the Buralls came from Belgium, but I've never seen or heard anything to back up that claim.

How about the Fetterlings? Are they on you tree? The line goes back pretty far past the Powders. Are you related to that line?

Audrey,

How kind of you to jump in and help, rare but it happnes:)

I will contact that person and exchange correspondence. I am looking on my tree to see if these are somehow connected, certainly nothing close to the trunk. My mother in law was a Burall from Frederick Co, MD so I have traced what I could with 187 Burall on the tree.
Thanks,
Charles

Your message says you have extensive info on the Burall family. I just posted a message on the board in an attempt to help someone who is trying to return a book to a Burall family. Will you please read my post and see if you can be of help? I personally have no connection to this family but after I read this, I thought a post on RootsWeb might be beneficial. I hope there are some descendants of this family who can be located so this precious piece of history can find a home.

Item of interest to Burall family

I found this on the Kovel's newsletter posted in April 2004. I thought it might be of interest to someone in the Burall family. Their website is www.tias.com/newsletter . If you would like to go there, look for issue #222. That is the one that contains the following paragraph.

Over 20 years ago I bought a box of books at a tag sale. One of the books I have held on to, and at various points in my life tried to track down the owner, because it touched me so. The book is called The Wedding Ring, and is "a series of discourses for husbands and wives and those contemplating matrimony." (Copyright 1896.) The book was given to a Helen Burall on February 23, 1926, who apparently lived in Davenport Iowa. The address also includes "Rock Island, Lee," which I believe references an island in Iowa. The book appears to be a gift from Lillian Lydia Burall, who in the back of the book wrote a poem in memory of her brother Harry LeRoy Burall who had died. I would like to return this book to the Burall family if possible. Thank you. Barbara at barbaraheimlich@aol.com
