Though no relation I currently live in the Phineas Burchard b.1738, homestead in Ashford CT. This has been in my family since 1919.
The oldest part of the structure was built as a half cape circa 1711. The property was bought by John Burchard father of Phineas in 1756 and conveyed to Phineas in 1764 the year he married Lydia Farnham.
Phineas expanded the house into a full cape and there are many "PB" intials as sawyer marks on boards througout the house. Of special note is a hand carved stone sink dated 1802 and initialed "PB"
Phineas is buried at the nearby Westford Hill Cemetery along with first wife, Lydia d.1785 age 41 years 1 mon 12 days. Elizabeth (2nd wife) d.1798 age 47 yrs 16 days and Daugther Clarissa, d. 1792 age 9 months 19 days.
I would be happy to open my home to any Burchard decendants or send photos.
