I have Thomas Burd as father; Thomas Tyler as son: Joseph as son; Agnes, Clara as daughters of Thomas Tyler and down from there. There was a son who was "deaf & dumb" as described in other data. I do know that Thomas Tyler was also a bell ringer at the local St. Mary's church, ringing the hymns on Sundays

I have counted 9 different spellings of the family(s) around Shrewsbury, but this is just non-standardised spelling. I have both Thomas and Joseph in my family records, but it is rather difficult to be possitive about a match without a few more details. Can you provide a bit more - full names & dates where possible are most useful. Either reply here or direct at (pfitchett at netaccess dot co dot nz).

There is a John Burd in Sparta, Sussex Co. NJ in the 1850 Census. Listed is a son, William, age 15. I'm trying to ascertain what became of this William- who he married and where he lived. There are several William Bird's (Burd) about the same age in this area. There is another William C Bird, son of Clarkson. I'm trying to find out what became of William, son of John. I think he may have moved to Goshen, Orange County, NY.
Thank-you for any help you can give.
My G-Grandfather, William Burd, was born in 1836 in Sparta, and I'm trying to see if this one could be him.

I would be very interested in seeng what line of Burd's you decended from. I've been tracing the BURD line for several years now. So far we've concluded that the Burds started in Elizabeth NJ. My line then moves on to NY.
Also there is a Message Board for the BIRD/BURD/BYRD on Rootsweb.
To subscribe to the list, please send an email to BIRD-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'subscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message.

Good Luck in your searches,
Lisa Martin

I was originally registered as seektheburd but now using slseeks.
I have family still living in the Long Lane area. Hope to visit later this year if gas prices taper off. It has been several years since I was home. I would love to exchange information.
See the post above under Jesse Bird. Your David are two different lines. You both need to have a DNA test to establish where you connect to the Burd,Bird in NJ,. the Same with Barthomew Burd,Issac Burd. Jesse Burd. Thomas Bird/Burd Peter Burd. all were in NJ around 1780 Area time, +Byrd when you are up against a concrete Wall. the next best thing in Genealogy is a simple DNA test, Jamesbird@earthlink.net

Can you trace your father's ancestry back any? Even though MY Barbara is not YOUR Barbara, it is very probable that we are related- I can trace my line all the way back to Thomas BIrd b. 1600 in England. There is a Bird/Byrd/Burd DNA project that could also assist you to trace you ancestry (although this costs a few bucks!) if you are STUCK and don't have any information. I have other information on other lines of Birds besides my own too. Let me know if you need some of this info at soccerburd@yahoo.com

Good luck,
Jack Burd

I need to update the posting I have on Ancestry.com. I am one of the success stories. My first posting was in the year 2000. You can read them to understand that I was searching for my Father and/or his people.

In 2008, my dear cousin Judy answered my query. She has done extensive genealogy on the Burd family, and she recognized the people in my search. With her invaluable assistance, I have found my aunt and a host of cousins. I have been to KY to meet them. Regrettably, I also found out that my Father passed away in 1974.

I still have a half sister named Diana Kay that I hope to someday find and get to know. Getting to know all of my Burd kin has enriched my life immeasurely. I am truly blessed.

As Judy has already told you, we descend from William Spencer Burd. My Grand Father was Robert "Bob" Burd, who was the son of James Robert Burd and Susan Emily (Susie) Harper Burd.

I can trace my father's ancestry pretty far back. With the help of other researchers it can be traced to Edward (Longshanks) Plantagent via his daughter Elizabeth and even farther back. I do think we have a bit of miscommunication though, my father is not a Burd. He was married to a Burd, the mother of the four oldest of my siblings, Josiah II, John, Lynette and Kimberly. Their mother was Barbara Burd. She had two other children Shauna and Brandon. I am researching Barb for them and my neices and newphews. All I know about her is that her mother's names was Anna "Molly" Davies, known as Grandma Burd and that she supposwdly immigrated from Wales around 1906. I haven't verified that yet though. Also somewhere there is supposed to be some native american indian, but I havent been able to verify that either. Thank you for your help.
Kari

I find it strange that folks who came to Missouri from Tennessee had a Bible printed in PA or from PA. I remember when researcher families were trying to decide who Daniel Burds parents were that there was mention of some Burds from the "north" Ralph visited with his cousins, Burd, not too long ago by phone he just calls them all up and chats. Ralph is related to the the Burds through his great grandmother Margaret Burd who married Jasper Blanton. His mother was a Blanton. What information does the Bible have on the "old" Burds?
