My mother was a Hipkin b1904.
Father William Clowes Hipkin b. Boston.
G/F Zaccariah Hipkin b. 1822 Boston son of Joseph Hipkin/Elizabeth Burdell. Brother and Sisters, Frederick 23/9/1820, Keziah, William Burdell, Ermina, Emily, and Julia Ann. I think Joseph was a widower when he married Elizabeth. Frederick according to a photostat of a Hipkin Family Bible married three times and there were several children. Would appreciate receiving any additions or corrections.
Hi David
I've been communicating with David Faux and we have assembled a pretty complete picture of the Hipkin families including the Australian and Canadian connections, except I just noticed that your not in it! My grandfather was Joseph Burdell Hipkin and I suspect he was your grandfather's younger brother. You can get me at dedmking@rogers.com

Oops I was up too late the other night! Obviously Fred Burdell is not Joseph Burdell Hipkin's brother. However David Faux has traced our family back to Elizabeth Burdell wife of Joseph Hipkin m. 23 Nov 1813 in (Boston?). She is our great-grandfather's grandmother. Would love to here from you (David Faux would be the best contact).

Don King

Burdell family of Boston

Hello David: Thanks for responding to my query re the Burdell family. First, it is interesting to note that your middle name is Burdell. In my family the name Burdell is still used in this way - for example my father's cousin is Joseph Burdell Hipkin.

My Burdell ancestors are first found in Holbeach, Lincolnshire. My ggg grandmother is Elizabeth Burdell (bp. 6 Sept. 1788) and married Joseph Hipkin in Boston 23 Nov. 1813. Their son Frederick Hipkin (bp. 23 Sept. 1820 Boston; died new Sleaford 9 Feb. 1794) is my gg grandfather. I believe that Frederick was named after his uncle Frederick Burdell; and the former's sister Emery Hipkin was named after her aunt Emery Burdell. The above Elizabeth's father was John Burdell, bp. Holbeach 26 Sept. 1755, son of Lawrence Burdell (and likely Mary Doubleday). Here is where I run into difficulty. There were two to three Lawrence Burdell's living in Holbeach at about the same time. One was buried in Holbeach 20 May 1764; and another buried at next door Whaplode 11 Jan. 1755. I would be most greatful if by any chance your data base will help me to disentangle these various Lawrence Burdells. Does your Burdell line go back to a Lawrence?

Please e-mail me at <a href="http://www.fauxdk@yahoo.com" target="_blank">www.fauxdk@yahoo.com or
<a href="http://www.fauxd@hotmail.com" target="_blank">www.fauxd@hotmail.com

Thanks David.
