Joan B. (BURDICK) GOFF (1933-2009); Alfred, NY

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -

Joan B. Goff, 75, formerly of Alfred Station, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 28, 2009) at Live Care Center in Punta Gorda.

Mrs. Goff was born on Nov. 25, 1933 in Alfred to Arthur E. and Mary Gretchen (Clare) Burdick. She was a 1951 graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School. On May 6, 1966, in Harbour Heights, Fla., she married Arthur Lee Goff, Jr., who predeceased her on June 27, 1999.

Joan is survived by a daughter, Regina Burke of Punta Gorda; two sons, John Burke of Lithia, Fla. and James (Connie) Burke of Huntersville, N.C.; two sisters, Thelma (Lyle) Palmiter of Alfred Station, and Norma Burdick of Wellsville; two brothers, Charles (Jackie) Burdick and Douglas (Mary Jane) Burdick, both of Alfred Station; six grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A homemaker for her husband and children, Joan lived an active life. Her love of animals began from the milking days on the family farm as a child and continued with her almost daily evening countryside rides counting deer. She was a “friend to everyone she met” and spent her summers at Lake Lodge in Alfred camping for over 20 years. She loved to travel, having recently vacationed in Hawaii, completing the last of the 50 states on her list. But more than this, she was a kind and loving friend and will be dearly missed by all.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday at Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Chroniger, officiating. Burial will follow at Alfred Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alfred Station Fire Company, P.O. Box 282, Alfred Station, N.Y. 14803.

http://www.eveningtribune.com/obituaries/x23532167/JOAN-B-GO...

My uncle George Burdick, whose 2nd wife was named Izzy( she had lost her leg, I saw her in a hospital in Johnson City just before she past away.

Thank you for the link to the article. I will file it as a possibility. According to the Death record I have for Whitman Burdick, his father, David C and mother, Hannah were residents of New York still living in 1879. Whitman died in 1879. The article indicates that David C. died in 1867. Depending on how much communication there was between families during this twelve year period, there could be a connection. I have not seen reference to Lodema in any of my research, but will keep an eye out. It is an unusual name.
Jody

My Great-Great Grandmother is Charlotte Burdick. Her PARENTS are Zelick and Amanda Burdick. Her BROTHER is Edgar Andrew Jackson Burdick. Charlotte had a DAUGHTER, her name is EMMA JANE FINCH (by CHARLOTTE'S THIRD HUSBAND). Emma Jane had a DAUGHTER, her name is LONA SOPHIA BURDICK (by EMMA'S FIRST HUSBAND). Lona had a SON, his name is LEO THOMAS DAVIES (he is my FATHER). CHARLOTTE was born in VERMONT. She had lived in the SPRING GREEN/LONE ROCK/BEAR VALLEY, WISCONSIN area. She is BURIED in the LONE ROCK CEMETERY (her last name was SMALL when she died ----- her FOURTH HUSBAND was JOHN SMALL). I would love to have as much information about her PARENTS (full names, where they were born, where they died and where they are buried, their brothers and sisters names and THEIR FAMILIES, also). I would love to have as much information about her BROTHERS and SISTERS (full names, where they were born, where they died and where they are buried, their spouses names, and all of their childrens names, etc.)

Hi,

This is the only reference I've been able to find on Franklin Burdick and Lloyd Franklin Burdick. Franklin was my G-Grandfather and Lloyd Franklin Sr. was my Grandfather. My father was Lloyd Franklin Burdick Jr. and I remember he had a sister Marion. I would appreciate any more information on Franklin or Lloyd Franklin Sr. Thanks

Lloyd R Burdick
