Classification: Query
All Virginia Burge Family members that migrated to Georgia, or passed through Georgia from 1790’ to 1880’ are now researched!
My Great Grandmother was Irene Mississippi Burge! I have done some Burge research over the past 5-10 yrs., but could not find much research done in Georgia on the Burge family out of Virginia. Over the past 6 months, I have done an in-depth research on the Burge family of Georgia, with extensive documentation, and have 98% coverage of all Georgia Burge family members from 1790' to 1880' Census. This Burge family has 561 members, with the majority being in Georgia at some period of time. In order to achieve this high percent of coverage, I have had to use my "disclaimer notes" about a half dozen times, but those individuals are left hanging for anyone to prove or disprove that relationship. It has paid off in the past with our Maner research, and I hope it will be beneficial with other branches.

There is another feature that I have enacted into my tree for this past year. I will refer to as a "FAT" file! ( Facts and Times! ) You ever opened someone's tree and find John & Mary Doe with 12 kids, and no dates, and no places, and wondered! What Century? What Country? Close the file and think, why did they bother. Well, a lot of times, we all get a little slack on our side branches. Just remember, your side branches are someone's upline tree! Everyone in my tree, now celebrates a birthday! (either a date range or an “abt.” birthday.) I now attempt to fill these date and place requirements before closing an entry page. This includes marriage date ranges, and “death after dates” according to the last census that I find the family. If you open up one of my pages, and all the children died “aft. 1880”, then you know I have traced them down to that census. To update your tree to a "FAT" file takes about an hour per 1000 entries, and will make your file more user friendly for others!
Another note of interest! If you reply to this posting and I don't answer back, don't fret, I will be out of the country, till April 1st., 2007'.
P.S. This Burge family tree should answer a lot of queries posted over the past several years on various Burge boards. If you have documentation concerning my upline William & Rebecca Burge, please let me know.
