Hi,
I am a descendant of Albert A. Burger and Sarah Anne Vincent and like you, I am still living in the Saint John area. You can go tho the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick : RS551A : Index to Marriage Bonds 1810-1932 and learn that in 1870 they signed a Marriage Bond with the co-signer of the bond being Thomas Kierstead ... Albert Burger, in this document is transcribed as Albert Burgher. It is Microfilm F-9100 Reference 1870-188. It has been told to me through family stories that Albert came to Canada as a stowaway and he learned to speak English by translating his German Bible into English. P.S. Burger has sometimes been transcribed as Berger.
I hope this is of some use to you.
Take care and God bless. Susan
