I would like to add new information about the Burgesons I have been researching. Sarah Andersson Persson married Aaron Burgeson about 1899. They had four children,; Ellen (died young), Victoria (1902-1969), married Barger, Agnes (1900-1978) married Nelson and Gunnar/Gunard Burgeson (1910-1960). The parents and Victoria and Agnes all passed away in Ohio, while Gunard died in Minnesota. Victoria and Gunard had children but not Agnes.
In case somebody should search for this family, I have more information about them.
Hello John
I have recently started doing research about a couple, Aaron and Sarah Börjesson (Burgeson in the US) from Sweden. They emigrated in the late 1800's.
They had a few kids, among them a son called Gunnar.
They lived in Ohio. Could it bd the same people you mention? Please get in touch - we might be able to share some information.
Sincerely
Margaretha in Sweden

I am searching for Johan M Burgeson's siblings and parents. Johan was born December 14, 1832 in or near Starjarden Norra Farm, Surteby-Kattunga Parish, Sweden. Last known residence in Sweden was in the area of Onsala and Kungsbacka Sweden in the area called skallared #3 pronounced Wellared in English. Johan and his wife Britta P. Jansson had 5 children before leaving Sweden. 3 daughters and two sons. The sons died as infants. Their daughters were Augusta married John Carlson in Burlington, Iowa in 1877, Ida married Andrew Peterson in Burlington Iowa in 1883 and Bertha who married Charles Rudd in Fillmore County, Nebraska December 6, 1883. This family left Sweden in or about 1871 and traveled first to near Memphis, Tennessee then on to Burlington, Desmoines County, Iowa and then in about 1880 they moved to near Shickley, Fillmore County, Nebaraska.
I believe that Johan had a sister by the name of Anna Britta Burgeson or Borjesson but I am unable to find the link. Any links to this family please contact me.

Don't know if your still out there, but I thought I'd take a chance. I'm starting to look for my Thiele relatives. I'm looking for relatives in Germany of my ggrandfather, ([Carl August]) Rudolph Thiele arrived in the US around 1873 from Kalisz, Prussia which is now part of Poland. Rudolph, as he appears on passenger lists and in immigration documents, married Augusta Anna Rauhut, probably near Muhlhausen, Germany in 1872. She was from Kozmin, also now in Poland. They lived and died in Newark NJ. Any info would be appreciated. I have a few names of some relatives whom I think stayed in Prussia/Poland/Germany. They also may have moved to Germany during one of the change-overs in government around that time: Emma (Thiele?), Paul Thiele. Richard Thiele, who may have been here, gone back, and returned to the US. I haven't found him on passenger lists. Thanks!

Have just begun searching for my grandfather Joseph E. Burgeson b. 1861 Sweden - d. 1908 Chicago, Illinois. I have been told the name Burgeson was changed but do not know from what.
1900 census places him in Chicago with wife Elizabeth, son Joseph E. Jr. (my father) and a brother Frederick Burgeson. He immigrated in 1869 with family and is noted as naturalized. Also found evidence he first came to Illinois in l887. Trying to find out where family settled and lived between l869 and l887.

My great grandfather, Anders Borjesson, came from Sweden in 1859. His brother, Andreas also came with him. Their name was changed to Burgeson here in US. I would like to find any relatives I have here in the US or Europe. Anders and Andreas's father's name was Borje Andersson. Anders was born in 1833 in Hallandslan, Sweden. They left several siblings in Sweden. Some of the last names would be different. Emmanuelson and Johansson would be two that stayed in Sweden.

Thank you for your reply. It has been awhile, so I even forgot what I put on there! My Great Grandfather was Anders (later Andrew) Borjesson (changed to Burgeson) He came from Sweden in 1859 with his brother, Andreas, who also became Andrew here in U.S. They first lived in Indiana, later homesteaded in Nebraska, died in Nebraska. (They both served in the Civil War on the North, Indiana regiments) I know I have some distant relatives in Nebraska, but I'm not in contact with them. My grandfather, Charles, came to California in 1919, where my father, Orville was born. (I live in Tulare, used to live in Kingsburg where my father I were born) I have some second cousins in Idaho and Eastern Washington and Montana. There probably are more other places as well that I am am not aware of. Hope to hear from you again.

As far as I know, none of our family is from Michigan. My great-grandfather, Anders, and his brother, Andreas came to the US in 1859 from Sweden. They were both in the Civil War, then settled in Indiana before homesteading in Nebraska. I still have some distant relatives in the Phelps County of Nebraska the last I knew of. Unless you can trace your tree through these two people, I doubt we are related.

Carol Burgeson Vaughan

The Burgeson line

I just stumbled on this web site & don't have my family database with me. My grandfather, Benjamin Burgeson, came over from Sweden in the late 1800s -- married a Lovisa Carson -- had two daughters, one of which was adopted by a relation when Lovisa died in childbirth -- the other -- Elizabeth -- married a Mr. Johnson and lived in Warren Ohio in the first half of the 20th century. Benjamin Burgeson married again to Anna Nillson -- had four children, Edith, who never married, who died in the 1980s, Elmer, my father, who died in 1974, Eva, who died at age 12 and Larry(?) who died as an infant.

Benjamin's father we think was Burge Anderson -- his father was Anders Anderson. Benjamin's name in Sweden was (we think) "Bjoreson." Benjamin's brother was Aaron Burgeson and it is his family we've lost track of. One of Aaron's sons, Gunnar, was apparantly known as "The Roaring Swede" on the 1930 Ohio State Football team.

If anyone has information -- please email.

John Burgeson

Sue-Ellen Parker....in your list of Burgeson
relatives, would you have anything on a John Barney Burgeson..I know that he came here from Sweden with his 2 brothers probably around the late 1880's when he was 13 yrs old...I also know that he changed his name probably from Borjesson to Burgeson....
He married around the turn of the century to
Hester Mary (or Mary Hester) Copley. I don't know where they were married but it was probably here in Indiana...they were from a small town called Clinton where they had 6 children (one of whom was my mother). I can find nothing on him at all and am becoming very frustrated!! If you can help I would much appreciate it !

I have never
quite understood the Burgeson connection.
Maybe you could fill me in on some of the
details.

Viola Bergeson of Superior, WI

I am trying to find inormation on the family of my grandmother, Viola P. Bergeson, who was born in Superior, Wisconsin on 1 Aug., 1902. Her mother, Margaret Johnson Bergeson, died when Viola was a child and she was raised by a Johnson Aunt in Superior. My great-grandmother, Margaret, married twice after her marriage to a Burgeson, so this part of our ancestry has been lost. My grandmother, Viola, was baptized and married in the same church in Deluth, MN, but the church has changed denominations and has no records from before the change. Deluth, apparently is a neighboring city of Superior. Any advice on how to get started in my search would be greatly apprecaited. My e-mail address is burt87@hotmail.com.

My father is a descendant of Andrew Magnus Burgeson. Andrew was the son of Borge Strandborg, and the family name was changed from Strandborg to Borgeson and then to Burgeson. If anyone has any information about this branch of the Burgeson family, I would be interested in receiving it.
