My Mothers side of the family I have traced to Montgomery Township, Franklin County, Penna. Free people of colour 1790 Census one Jonathan Burgess. Also a 1794 Property tax payed by Johnathan Burgess, My great great grand Father was born in Franklin County around 1816 Died on his farm at New Buena Vista, Bedford County Penna. There are still ancestors of the Burgess family living in Mercersburg, Penna. and grave stone with names of Burgess members that served in the famous 54th Mass Infantry shown in The movie "Glory". If anyone can add to some of the information I have please contact me. I have no Idea how they started out in Penna. before 1790?
