STRUTHERS, OHIO – Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the Wasko Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell for Andrew G. Burich, 92, formerly of Campbell, OHIO who passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.

Andrew was born Aug. 23, 1916, in Hillsville, Pa., the son of the late George and Mary Panian Burich.

He attended Mohawk City Schools and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II in the 3rd Armored Division, and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge campaign.

Andrew worked at the Republic Steel Co. and later at LTV Steel Co. as a pipe fitter.

He was a member of the St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell, OHIO where he belonged to the Men’s Civics Club. He was a member of the American Legion Post 560 in Campbell and after retirement, he faithfully worked bingo and was a custodian at the church hall.

Andrew loved being with his family and friends. He took great pride in his Croatian heritage, enjoying the music and ethnic food.
He was an avid Cleveland sports fan, listening on the radio and watching on TV. He also enjoyed following the local area sports teams.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Stephen “Mickey” (Elaine) Burich of Struthers, Ohio; a daughter, Elaine (Joseph) Simione of Boardman, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Diana Burich of Struthers; grandchildren, Kristina (Patrick) Walsh, Michael and Darren Burich, and Eric, Anthony, Tina and Liane Simione; great-grandchild Dillon Walsh; and sisters-in-law Mary (Burich) Arbie and Helen Kovalan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Blasko Burich, whom he married Aug. 14, 1943, and who died in 1989; his son, George Burich; sisters Fanny Medovich and Catherine Hvisdak; and a brother, John Burich.

The family would like to thank the residents of the Struthers Manor, where he resided for the last 19 years, for their friendship, kindness and help.

A special thanks to Andrew’s godchild Renee for her medical help and support.

The Burich family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
