Searching Nathen I. Burl who lived in N>Y> State as well as Pa. Seems that he was Indian descent and since the name Bourel was french...I am wondering if he got his name from the French who may have been fighting the French/Indian war. We can find no trace of our Nathen and are led to believe that he was in the Indian uprising. He was born 1823 and married a Harriet Cole from Pa. Would be interested in knowing if there is any connection here.

State and Pa. was born 1823 and could possibly have been Sioux and gone up into Canada.....I believe his Indian name was Red Leaf. Have you run into any of these Burls?

Hi, I am searching for Nathen I. Burl who was also believed to be Indian from the Sioux tribe. However, there has been rumor that there was another Indian tribe that was woven into this one at one time. Nathen was born in 1823. We have been at a stand still with this. Have been told that his Indian name may have been Red Leaf and that his children had been sent to Carlisle Indian School at one time. He was from the Lakota Tribe, the Brule's in South Dakota.

needing help finding ancestors

I have some very disjointed information about our family tree and wondered if anyone could help me solve the missing pieces. Aparently my great grandfather had already put together a detailed family tree and I would love to find it, are there ways to do this?
Story so far: I am living in London, my mother and father both live in Billericay, Essex. My father (David Burl) originally came from London. His father (also David Burl) came from London and was born 22.2.08 and owned an opticians. His mother was called Marian Burl. My fathers grandfather was William Burl who owned an Antiques Shop in Westbourne Park. William Burl had several brothers, one of whom was called Archie and owned a bookshop called Burl's Bookshop in the 1930's (this does not exist now). Archie was the person who had put a lot of time into creating the family tree that apparently went back as far as the 1200's. the other piece of info I have is that in the 1890's the family were ver musical and were in a group called Drum Major Burl's, we still have the flutes from this era.
Any info or help finding the tree that exists somewhere would be useful.
Thanks,
Sarah

Burl

There is an Andrew Burl who was in northern New York and who married a French-Canadian woman. I have looked in vain for his ancestry and am undecided whether he came from Scotland as has been proposed or was of French Candian ancestry. In any event the name of Preston Burl has not come up in my research and does not seem connected to the line I am researching.

Unfortunately there are several different lines of Burl family and the one I am researching is the Burl line in northern New York state that is seemingly of French-Canadian ancestry. I'm sorry, but I have no records of your Burl ancestry or lineage.

Yes, I am the Prof Lawrence of the American-Canadian Genealogical Society. I am searching the Burl-Bourel ancestry for a friend. I have the Burel of French ancestry lineage and history. They are my mother's ancestors. The resemblance of Burl to Burel got my attention and started my search. I can send more details if we communicate by E-mail directly. Roger Lawrence
