George Burlingham & Mary E. Brunson - m 1856 Jackson Co, IA

I have found a marriage record for George Burlingham and Mary E. Brunson in Jackson County, Iowa.

They were married in Maquoketa, Jackson County, Iowa on 12 Mar 1856.

At that time, George gave his age as 38 and May E. Brunson as 18 years of age.

Does anyone know the parents of George Burlingham and what happened to the family? I have looked through the 1860/1870 and 1880 census with no luck.

I have also looked in the 1850 census, trying to find them before they were married, but haven't had any luck there either.

John W Young (1846-1921) was my GG grandfather, he was married 1st to Harriet Eliza Gray (1850-1937) and 2nd to my GG grandmother Amanda M Phillips (1849-1930. Thanks for you interest and reply.

Abigail Burlingame (b.1799 RI, d.1878 Ill.) is living with the John W Young family in Boone Co. Ill. in the 1850 & 1860 census & with John W Young's mother (Maria Young) in the 1870 Census. Does anyone know if there is a family connection between the Young's & Burlingame's.
Abigail Burlingame is buried in the same cemetery that Nehemiah & Maria Young (John W Young's parents) are buried in (which was on the Young's property in Manchester twp, Boone Co. Ill)

Mrs. Henry Burlingame (OLIN) dies (WI) Henry son of Wanton and Abigail Watkins

1902 Obit found in newspaper at historical society Green Lake, Green Lake, WI on a genealogy trip.

Mrs. Henry Burlingame at her home in this city on Tues. morning January 14. Elmira Agusta OLIN was born at Monowonga, WI May 31, 1845 and was united in marriage to Henry Burlingame at Dartford Feb. 22, 1863.

A husband and three sons survive her Charles of Montello, Grant of Green Lake and Allah of Marinette, all of whom were present at her bedside.

The funeral was held at home on Thursday morning. Rev. Sanford conducting the service.

Found an interesting note on IMUS Family History at Rootsweb on him and wife Lucinda Burlingame.

Charles Lemuel with his wife Lucinda Burlingame and 14 children, moved to Coshocton Co. Ohio around 1833, before he ran away, abandoning them. His family believed he blew up in a steamboat accident at Cincinatti 12 May 1838. The wife is still in Coschocton in the 1840 census. Charles Lemuel applied for a military land bounty from Warren Co. Ohio,in 1850 unbeknownst to all.

I wonder if she married a second time?

Can you tell us when and where your grandfather was born and died? That could get us started. Have you found him in the census, as a small child, with his parents? That's how I start working my way backwards.

I am also related to the Wright brothers. They never married, so they don't have any direct descendants, but I am related through them, but not through my Burlingham/Burlingame line.

After years and pages of family names and history I finally discovered this sight. I have an extensive history of the Burlingames and interested in adding to it. My grandfather had one brother Robert Burlingame with no decendents and my father is the last decendent of his line.

According to family records I am related to Anson Burlingame. I have just joined the Ancestry group and haven't figured out how to post my tree to anyone interested. Charles H. Burlingame, Charles R Burlingame and my grandfather Raymond C. Burlingame are direct family names. Anson has always been the family claim to fame. My husband is a direct decendent of Orvil and Wilbur Wright so I guess I am just trying to hold my own. I also wonder if I am related to the 9/11 pilot Charles Burlingame.

George Burlingame was born 23 Jun 1883 in New York and died 29 Aug 1953 in Hartford, Connecticut. Margaret O'Maher was born 4 Aug 1894 in Naugatuck, New Haven, Connecticut and died 8 March 1968 in Connecticut. George's parents were Howard (born 1859 in New York and died 1914 in Hartford, CT) and Frances Garvey (born 1863? in New York and death date unknown).

All we know is Howard's parents were Sylvanus (born about 1830 in Mass) and Mary Shepherd (born about 1835?) in New York and found them in the 1860 census. I don't know anything about Frances' parents except they originated from Scotland and her mother was a widow in the 1880 census in Brooklyn, New York. After that, I've not been able to find them!

The genealogy information that was bequeathed me on the death of my grandmother's cousin, has in it information on Anson Burlingame, b. 1820, etc. I thus far have not found a connection to my Burlingames. Wanton Burlingame is a brother of Clark Burlingame and his daughter, Lucinda married into my Bailey family (Andrew)so am interested in Wanton's children.

I have info on 2 of them: Polly b. 1795, d. 1853 and married Abel (son of Clark).

Elizabeth "Betsy" b. 1799, d. 1888 and married Rev. Wm Moses.

Working on the Burlingames today...I connect with Clark Burlingame(wife Patience Soper. He was a brother to the father of your Lucinda(sister to Diantha). I have some old info from Nelson Burlingame Family records(Los Angeles public library) that shows Wanton and Lucy Stone Burlingame's daughter Lucinda married to a Charles Amos Chaffers. Is this wrong? I am not following these lines but will correct this if in error. Trying to keep all these Burlingames straight!
