Anyone one else descended from Jonathan and Permelia
Burleyson/Burlison who was told there was a Native
American connection in their ancestors? I am descended from one of their daughters and family tradition held that she was part Cherokee. Would that be from Jonathan or from Permelia? They were from Montgomery County NC which is much too far east to be Cherokee country---maybe Lumbee.

I'm not really sure, I have names John, Joseph, HE, Aaron and James and Mary Ellen and they are all from southern Illinois. Maybe if we share information we can put some pieces together. I saw that someone else posted back in 2005 I guessed I missed that response or forgot what I said. Anyways, if you want to share info I'd be happy to share what I have. I have a copy that was given to me by Edith Ward a descendent still in Tn. The older Issac had two marriages. Issac who is buried at Frazier Cem. in Christian Co, Mo. is by second marriage. I have visited Issac Sr. grave on a hillside in Monroe Co. Tn. My husband descends from Frank Burlison a brother of Robert Mack.

Look up Ellen Burleson 1867 on Roots Web under bellew1. I found her in the 1910 & 1920 Census. However, it brings up more questions than answers. More children appear and disappear. I have not yet found her in the 1930 census. After you digest this information, please let me know if it fits with your data.

I am looking for family info on Mary Ellen Burlison who married a James Odle. I know they had possibly 3 children John, William and George. I believe I found George in 1880 census living with a Daniel Reed but the parents and others disappeared after the 1870 census. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe Mary Ellen's parents were Aaron (V) Burlison and Emeline Duckworth. Thank you.

Ella Burlison was born in 1867 in Kentucky and moved to Sparta(Christian County) Missouri. She married Alexander Hail/Hale on October 23, 1889, in Christian County. In the 1900 census, Ellen was remarried to Samp Richardson. At that time, she had two children from provious marriages. They were Henry C. Burlison(b.1888) and Mona Hail/Hale(b.1893). I have an Alexander Burlison in my husband's tree. My Alexander lived in Lauderdale Co., and in the Haywood Co. area as well. He was born about 1870 and was the son of David Burli(e)son and Mary E. (Unknown).
Listed below is the census record for 1880 in Lauderdale Co., TN. My husband's great grandmother was Minnie L. Burlison. Alexander also is found in Blytheville, Arkansas at some time during his adult life. I had "heard" from family members that there were some folk who went to TX.

This information may help you. I have been searching for an unknown Burlison girl who married Rufus Lemons in Ripley, TN. I know that her sister was Dora Burlison who married George E. Smith, and that her father was David Burlison...but other than that, I don't know what her name was.

My great grandmother was Ida Luraine Burlison Warise she was born 1/20/1880 in TN married to Ruben Warise 1/30/1906 in Lawrence Co. TN died 7/26/1977 buried in Sheboss Cem. Maury TN maybe we have a connection she had several sisters Carrie, Annabell (may have been known as Fannie) , Paridine, Maggie, Emma, Etter and a brother William I have found them in the 1880 census and the 1900 census in Lawrence TN recently my uncle has found a picture of 5 of the sisters please let me know if any of this ties into your family I dont have alot of info but will share what i do have Thank you Amy
