Both are buried in the East Hill Cemetery in Osseo, Hillsdale County, Michigan.

The family moved to Jackson County, Michigan from New York c. 1839, and relocated to Jefferson Township in Hillsdale
County, Michigan in 1849 where John Burnett at first rented land. A small farm on Section 4 of Jefferson Township was
purchased in 1854.

Children: James Franklin Burnett, b. 1838; Chauncey Vandermark Burnett, b. 1840; William Esmond Burnett, b. 1841; Mary E. Burnett, b. 1846
