Hi all,

My name is Mark Skeen. I have been viewing the record of Friendless Jordan marrying James Skeen in 1809. Through research and DNA, it is very lilely that James Skeen was my last known relative John W Skeen's father. In addition, it is also possible that James had two my children - Solomon and Kiziah.

I am not sure if this is the same James Skeen that I am potentially related too. My grandfather used to say that we were part Cherokee. So far, all of the othter details from him have been accurate.

I was hoping you could provide me with any research you have. I would gladly share mine as well. Best regards, Mark

What are your George Arthur Burrage's birth & death dates? My first guess would be that he descends from the immigrant John Burrage, but we'd need the dates & other data to make the connection.
Charles Henry Pope's "Pioneers of Massachusetts" says this:
BURRAGE, BORRAGE
John, Charlestown, 1637. Clerk of the market, ferryman. He was age 45 in 1662. Wife Mary adm. church with him 10 (2) 1642. He m. Joanna Stower, (age 47 in 1671) who d. Dec. 25, 1680. Ch. Mary bapt. 8 (3) 1641, (m. John Marshall, Hannah b. 14 (10) 1643 (m. John French), John, age 22 in 1668, Elizabeth (m. Thomas Deane), Nathaniel b. 1655, d. 1656, William b. June 10, 1657, Sarah b. 24 (11) 1658-9, (m.Wm. Johnson), Bethia bapt. 26 (3) 1661, Thomas b. May 26, 1663, Ruth, b. Feb. 28,1664/5 (m. Ignatius White) Joanna d. 15 (4) 1668.
He d. 19 (8)1685. Inv. filed by widow Joanna 15 Dec. folg. Her inv. was taken 13 (1) 1689/90. An agreement for the div. of the est. was made 2 May, 1694, by Mary Marshall, Hannah French, Elazabeth Poor, William, Bethia and Thomas B., Sarah Johnson, Ruth White, and Susanna, dau. of John B. dec.
[I descend from dtr, Mary and John Marshall. --Jan Weber]

I'm looking for any descendants of a Lula Burrage. Lula was originally from Dekalb, Kemper Cty, MS and she married a Henry Burrage Sr who died in 1936. Lula was the sister of my gggrandfather Joseph Goodwin. Most of what I know about Aunt Lula comes from a Pine Bluff Commercial article commemorating her 100th birthday in 1986. She is said to have 6 children only one of whom was still living at the time of the article, Henry Jr. Joseph Goodwin migrated from MS to Pine Bluff, AR around 1916. I'm not sure if this is when the Burrages also left MS, but at some point the family settled in Pine Bluff, AR. If anyone has any info for me it will be much appreciated.

"Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settllers of New England" Vol.1, page 308, lists a Benjamin Burrage in Scarborough in 1640. (Do not know what state).

"Va. Colonial Soldiers" , page 349, lists Corp Benjamin Burrage as being fined for missing musters.

1830 Census shows a Benjamin Burrage in Gallia County, Ohio.

These arre just random notes I picked up in looking for my
line of the family. I am trying to verify the father of Ninian Burrage (I think he was Edward). Ninian died in 1813 in
Charles County, Maryland.

Hi,yrying
Thank you for responding. I am trying to find information regarding Thomas Burrage, who apparantly died in Autauga, AL . His parents were William and Rebecca. Do you know who he married and if there were any children? There are two girls staying with my ggggrandfather and his family in Mississippi. They are Mary and Rebecca Burrage and I can't determine who their parents were. My ggggrandfather , Daniel Emmons met and married his first wife, Lucy Burrage, in Virginia or Alabama. After she died, he married Eliza Withers/Weathers and they moved to Mississippi. Shortly before Thomas Burrage died (around 1839), I believe one of Thomas' slaves became pregnant by Daniel.
After Thomas died, Daniel purchased the slave woman, Nancy, her daughter who was not quite one year old, and three other slaves.

In Mississippi they lived in my ggggrandfather's home with his wife and children and his female slave, Nancy. The family story is that he sent his daughter Ellen out of Mississippi and we do find her in Arkansas in 1880. If you know anything at all about Thomas Burrage, the Emmons or, the Croftons, please let me know.

Thank you,
Denise

Re: Burrage/Berridge Gallia Co. OH

My grandfather was Lester Berridge, son of John and Lilly Berridge of "Yellowtown", Galllia County, Ohio. Am seeking info re: the Berridge family as well. John died at age 38 and all four children were given to relatives to raise as mother was ill and hospitalized. Have little info on ancestors.
