Would like to make an update/correction to my post. I have since discovered that my Robert Wesley and his father Jarrel B. are buried here locally in the same cemetery. I do believe that John Freeman Burrow, father of Jarrel B., was buried in Tn. where he lived. I have heard of the Burrow cemetery but have not had the opportunity to visit. My grandfather Robert Ester Burrow and his father Robert Wesley Burrow were born here in Arkansas, Jarrel B. came here to Arkansas from Tn. It is confusing for myself and other Burrow researchers because there are so many Burrows with the same names in different lines. One must be very careful in matching names, dates, and ages.

Actually, Wayne is the son of the late Lynn and Blanche Burrow..Lynn was Uncle Bud's son. Wayne is a widower and he took care of Blanche in his home until her health declined such that he could not care for her by himself, and she passed away in a nursing home; she was in her 90's when she died. Wayne is in his late 70s-near 80 by now. He has one son and they all live in the Memphis area.

Did Wesley live in Texas, but died in TN. while visiting his brother and sister? I had an Uncle Wesley who was an older brother of my grandmother Linnie Olivia Burrow Abel.

The first year I can find a record of him was in 1860 when he was living with Starling Wooldridge and Arraminta Burrow Wooldridge, but I can find no trace of his being related to her or anyone else.

I am unable to find an 1850 census on him.

What are the names of the Burrows in your family? My grandfather and great gandfather had the same name--George Washington Burrow. The father of the elder G.W. Burow was Phillip b, 1803 in N.Carolina; wife Amarinta Mason b. 1811
in Tenn. Phillip's father was William Burrow, b. 1771 in Guilford, N.C; died in 1819 in Bedford, Tenn. His wife was born into a branch of the Burrow family. I understand they were cousins. Her maiden name was Mary Polly Burrow, b. 1775 in Dinwiddie, Va.; died in 1868 in Bedford, Tenn. Does anything sound familiar?

I am looking for info on a John Henry Burrow. The earliest info I have on him is in 1860 when he was living with a Sterling or Starling wooldridge and an Arranmenta Burrow Wooldridge. I can't find info on her either except that some have recorded Alfred Burrow as her father. I cannot verify that or her connection to John Henry Burrow who had listed MO and AR as his birthplace on different records. He lived in Randolph County, AR and is buried in Austin Cemetery or the Old Walnut Ridge Cemetary.

I have been looking into the Native Am. thing for a long time. Have always admired the Native Am. Seems like my family has several mixed blood connections.
My Grandma Jennie Burrow Stellmon, when she came to Idaho with her new husband and lived on the Nez Perce reservation in the late 1800's had a very good relationship with the Native Am. Young Cheif Jposeph would come to her home and have a cuppa coffee and white bread. She said they didn't knock, just walked in!
And her husbands family has a strong connectiopn to the Cherokee Indians. Grandma's sister married a full blood Cherokee and had several children in Ok. Have pictures!!!!
Love visiting with you, and will share if you like.
Karen

Three are lots of Burrows, I discover. My fathe and Gandfater were both George Washington Burrow --same name. The father of the elder G.W. Burrow was Phillip Burrow, b.1803 in N.C., died in Tennessee. Phillip's wife was Amarinta Mason, b. 1811 in Tennessee. Sounds like Phillip got to Tennessee when he was pretty young. I don't have a marriage date.Tennessee was the frontier at that point. Phillip's father was William Burrow b. 1771 in Guilford, N.C. d. 4Oct 1819 in Bedford, Tenn.
My mother's father, the one who married an Indian, was J.R. Simms, whose information seems to match the information for a J.B. Simms that I've come across.
I have a photo or two of my Grandfather. My Aunt Bess had a bunch of family photoes and the family Bible3, and I don't know what happened to them. I can't find he son, who might not even be alive now. He'd be about 65.
Thanks for the contacts.

Hello
My Grandmother,JENNIE MAE BURROW b. 1883 in Benton co.
Ark, father was WILLIAM BURROW b. in Tn. I think there is a connection somewhere?? I will look it up later.
Anyway, yes there are several Native Am. wives in the BURROW family. I was told that the Indian ladies were hardier than the whites so when they first came here that is what they married!
Mostly Cherokee. Also free land!
Anyway I think it is great.
Looking for pictures of the family if you are interested in sharing.
Thank you
Karen in Idaho
Lewis and Clark went through this area.

My mother was a Burrow: Winnifred (1907). Her father was George Washington Burrow the younger. Her mother's father is recorded as J.R. (J.B.? Sims. He married a native American. No one seems to know which tribe, but others in the family go back to Tennesee and South Carolina. Too bad nobody seems to remember the names of these Native American wives. I suppose they were carefully guarded secrets for many year, so their names are lost and remembered only because of their Indian forebears.

Yes I am still here, but haven’t done much with the family tree lately. I got involved with Find-a-Grave and really branched out from there.

Those photos can only be e-mailed one per e-mail, or they gum up the works. How about a CD? I have your address in Idaho, but can’t remember what I sent you. The photos of Jennie, her husband, and Pleasant Cumiford came from you, didn’t they?

I last corresponded with you June 2009! We went to Tennessee last year and finally met J. R. Blanks, the author of the Burrow Family History. He had moved and found his original manuscript. He got reprints made and we now have a copy of the book.

If you’d OK a CD, I’ll get it together ASAP, we are going to do a cemetery tomorrow, and I have to check in soon for jury duty. Yay! Let me know, and have a great holiday!
